We recently connected with Sarah Wiesner and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken in my career as a creative professional was deciding to leave the stability of a 9-to-5 job to pursue my passion full-time through Motivisualz. It wasn’t a decision I made overnight—it was a leap of Faith years in the making, built on countless moments of doubt, sleepless nights, and a deep desire to live a life fueled by purpose and creativity.
The Backstory
At the time, I was juggling a corporate marketing role and freelancing on the side. My evenings and weekends were spent shooting videos, building branding packages, and creating content for small businesses, athletes, and entrepreneurs; all while being a single-mother. While I loved the creative work, it felt like a side hustle that didn’t get my full attention. I was constantly torn between the security of a steady paycheck and the itch to make something truly my own.
I always wore multiple hats in my corporate roles which led to being overworked and underpaid. The pivotal moment came when I compared my side-hustle project income to my main job project list and salary. I realized I could be making more and living my purpose if I went full time as Motivisualz. I had to make a choice—stick with what was comfortable or dive headfirst into the unknown. With Prayer and submitting myself and my business to God, I took the leap.
The Risk
Quitting my job to focus on Motivisualz was terrifying. I had bills to pay, a family to support, and no guarantee that my business would continue to thrive. I didn’t have a huge safety net, but I had a vision of what Motivisualz could become—a company that told stories, elevated brands, and made an impact through visuals.
I took the plunge, set up a business plan, and went all in. It wasn’t just about taking the leap; it was about proving to myself that I could turn my passion into a sustainable career.
The Outcome
The journey has been anything but smooth, but it’s been worth every challenge. Since taking that risk, I’ve worked with incredible clients, from major organizations like USA Basketball and The BIG3 to local brands looking to tell their stories. Each project pushed me to grow creatively and professionally, and Motivisualz became more than just a business—it became a representation of resilience and purpose.
Some of the most rewarding moments I’ve had so far have been the opportunity to be a light in my clients life especially during times that they are struggling mentally or find themselves not reaching the goals they had in mind. I get to help them solve problems and use my skills and talents to build brands and bring my clients’ visions to life.
What I Learned
This risk taught me that growth doesn’t happen in comfort zones. The fear of failure can be overwhelming, but the reward of pursuing your passion is unmatched. Starting Motivisualz wasn’t just about creating visuals; it was about creating a life aligned with my values and talents.
Every risk I’ve taken since—whether it’s pitching new clients, rebranding my business, or taking on large-scale projects—feels a little less daunting because I know what I’m capable of when I put my trust in God and practice obedience.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Sarah Wiesner, and I am the founder and creative force behind Motivisualz, a company dedicated to helping brands, businesses, and individuals tell their stories through impactful visual content. I’ve always been drawn to the art of storytelling, and my journey into this industry has been a blend of passion, purpose, and a willingness to embrace risk.
How I Got Into This Industry
My path started in marketing and creative direction, where I managed campaigns, developed strategies, and worked closely with teams to build brands. Over time, I realized my favorite part of the process was content creation—taking ideas from concept to execution and visually communicating a message that resonates. This passion drove me to establish Motivisualz, where I could merge my creativity and strategic mindset to help others achieve their goals.
What We Provide

Problems We Solve
We solve the problem of disconnect between a brand’s message and its audience. In today’s digital world, it’s not enough to just have a presence; you need to stand out and connect. We help our clients cut through the noise by creating tailored content that is not only visually appealing but also strategically aligned with their goals. Whether it’s helping a small business increase its visibility or an athlete enhance their personal brand, our work is about making an impact.
What Sets Us Apart
What sets us apart is the care and attention we bring to every project. At Motivisualz, it’s not just about delivering a product; it’s about crafting a story that feels authentic and powerful. We pride ourselves on truly understanding our clients, their vision, and their audience. This allows us to create content that feels personal and purposeful.
Additionally, my background in marketing gives me a unique perspective on content creation. I don’t just focus on aesthetics; I focus on results. Every piece of content we create is designed with strategy and intention, ensuring it drives engagement, builds brand loyalty, and achieves tangible goals.
What I’m Most Proud Of
One of my proudest achievements is working with organizations like USA Basketball and The BIG3, where I’ve had the opportunity to capture moments that inspire and energize audiences. These collaborations challenged me creatively and professionally, but they also reminded me why I started Motivisualz: to tell stories that matter.
I’m also incredibly proud of the relationships I’ve built with clients over the years. Watching a small business grow or an individual step into their spotlight because of the work we’ve done together is the most rewarding part of what I do.
What I Want You to Know
At its core, Motivisualz is about more than just visuals—it’s about vision. We exist to empower our clients, elevate their brands, and make their ideas come to life. Whether you’re looking for a creative partner to amplify your marketing efforts or a storyteller to capture the essence of who you are, Motivisualz is here to help bring your visions to life.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Moving to Houston with a 2-week-old baby was one of the hardest and most defining moments of my life. I had no friends, no family in the city, and nothing but determination to make a better life for my son. Looking back, it was a true test of resilience—one that shaped who I am today.
Before making the decision, I wrestled with two choices: moving to Phoenix to be with my family or starting over in Houston so my son could be near his father. It wasn’t an easy choice, but during a visit to Houston, I had a spiritual moment. I heard a voice speak to me, “This is where you need to be.” It felt like a switch had been made, a quickening. That moment solidified my decision, and I promised myself I would do everything in my power to make it happen.
During that same visit, I interviewed for a Senior Graphic Designer position at an oil and gas company. The company later called me for a second interview, providing a sample project to complete—a marketing flyer. I was traveling to Phoenix at the time, driving with my father and baby. I vividly remember being in the backseat of the car, holding a bottle in one hand to feed my son and working on the flyer with my laptop balanced on my knees.
Once we arrived in Phoenix, I handed my son to my mom, got back in the car, and headed straight to the airport to fly back to Houston for the second interview. The separation was gut-wrenching—I cried silently the entire flight, missing my son, but knowing I had to push through for his future.
I landed at midnight, finished the flyer, printed it out, and went to the interview with the CEO the next morning. Exhausted but determined, I gave it my all. As soon as the interview was over, I headed straight back to the airport and flew to Phoenix to reunite with my son. A few days later, I got the call that I landed the job!
After the holidays, I returned to Kansas to pack up my apartment, put in my notice at my current job, and prepared for the move. During my exit interview, my publisher told me, “You’ll never make it in Houston. You’ll be back in less than two years.” I remember looking at her surprised that she would even say that. I replied in my head,“You don’t know me.”
When I arrived in Houston, I hit the ground running. I worked two jobs—Monday through Friday as a Senior Graphic Designer and weekends as a sports photographer for TSS Photography. At night, I worked on Motivisualz client projects, often surviving on little sleep but fueled by the drive to provide for my son.
Those early days were filled with loneliness, exhaustion, and doubt. I felt overwhelmed, but I didn’t have the option to give up. I just had to make it happen. Looking back now, I’m so proud of how far I’ve come. That risk, that leap of faith, set the foundation for everything I’ve built today, 10 years later.
What kept me going was my son, my faith, and the belief that I was creating something bigger than myself. Houston became the place where I built my career, my business, and a life for my son and me. God truly provided for us and led me during that time. I am reminded of this when I find myself getting fearful of other leaps in my journey and remember I’ve taken one of the biggest leaps in my life already and he has not failed. Trusting God during time is what turned a difficult chapter into the beginning of an incredible journey, and for that, I’m forever grateful.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been a combination of referrals and showcasing my work on social media. When I deliver quality results, clients naturally talk about their experiences, which brings in referrals. Word-of-mouth has been incredibly powerful for building trust with new clients, especially in industries like sports, fashion, and creative branding where relationships are everything.
Social media has also been a game-changer for me. Platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, and even TikTok have allowed me to highlight my creative process, behind-the-scenes moments, and final projects. I’ve found that storytelling and showing the “why” behind my work helps potential clients connect with my vision and expertise. Posting consistently and engaging with my audience has led to collaborations and inquiries from businesses and individuals I may never have reached otherwise.
One strategy that’s worked well is directly engaging with other brands’ content. I comment thoughtfully on posts, share useful tips, and build connections online that often turn into real-life opportunities. Networking events and being active in the Houston business community have also helped expand my reach.
For those just starting out, I’d recommend leaning into your unique style, investing in building genuine relationships, and making your work as visible as possible. Referrals and social media are powerful tools, but they’re fueled by the quality of your work and your ability to connect with people.
