Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ayah Serrins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Ayah thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents always worked as a team no matter what was happening. Raising 6 children couldn’t have been easy, but they showed me the value of hard work and putting in the effort to get results, and manifest goals. My dad worked and went to school full time while we were young, until he became a doctor and opened his own practice. I remember him telling me to never do something half-assed. He was a perfect example of integrity and working for a purpose in life, as well as just being a responsible human being. I am who I am today because of the example my parents were for me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Growing up in a faith-based home, I have always felt a connection to spirit. When my parents split, as a teenager, my whole world crumbled in order for me to figure out truth, and put the puzzle pieces together. I have always been into truth and what makes us tick as humans, so I have spent the past 23 years studying holistic health and spirituality. Everything from reiki, massage therapy, Chinese medicine, hypnosis, NLP, sociology, to Feng Shui, yoga, numerology, and law of attraction. I have a passion for learning, as well as teaching what I have learned. Over the past year I have narrowed down my niche and launched my first online course. I focus on transformational coaching, specifically in helping people to become more aware of, and shift their mindset. I have such strong faith in our ability to transform ourselves, and heal our bodies through different practices, because I have overcome my own physical ailments with the power of intention and meditation. That is why I want to share what I know with the world. Anyone who wants to learn more about themselves, and how to attain a life that they dream of, I am here for them. My heart is pure, I come from a place of love, and I truly care about the well-being of humanity.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I worked in hospitality management for many years because it ”was in the family” to do so. One of those jobs where it was comfortable, but not following one’s passion. I had told myself, I would give it one more year, but that year came a lot sooner than planned. I can’t go into details of what happened, because the story is honestly just too horrific, but what I can say, is that both me, and my husband’s jobs were stripped away overnight, and it was one of those moment’s where you just know that it was a blessing in disguise of horror. I took some time off while on unemployment to reflect on the direction I wanted to take, then Covid happened! So in that time off, I studied Yoga teacher training and got certified in Health and Wellness Coaching. I started working in a spa as an esthetician (my back-up job) while I started building an online coaching business. It’s been years in the making, but I am ready for the expansion that is happening.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Back in 2017, I had experienced severe numbness in my legs one day, so much so I went to the E.R. They held me overnight to run tests, and told me that I had Multiple Sclerosis. My world was turned upside down and inside out. They wanted me to take medication, but being a scientist at heart, I did my research. And as scary as this disease can be, I found that it wasn’t worth the weekly symptoms I would experience with medicine. I decided to use everything I had learned in the world of holistic health, along with mindset/faith to go the natural route. I am proud to say that I went a whole 7 years without a relapse- I did just have a bad relapse a few months back, and I honestly can say, that what has gotten me through this time, is my faith in the body’s ability to heal, and using my mind to overcome this adversity. It is so important to stay strong, and focus on what is going right in our life, instead of what has gone wrong.
