We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kevin Maynor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kevin below.
Alright, Kevin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
One of the most important lessons learned from any prior experience in a job was that, no matter how hard you worked, that work was for somebody else. I knew for years that owning my own business was the only way to truly be happy and do what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it and at the end of the day, all of my hard work was for my business. It’s very fulfilling.
Kevin , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Kevin Maynor, I’m an entrepreneur who loves what he does. Owning a detailing business isn’t just a bucket of water and a wash cloth. It’s being disciplined, professional and showing up when you may not feel like it.
Getting into this industry was something I’ve always dabbled in, my high school days I spent a lot of times at car shows with a car club, years later I helped an old friend run his very established detailing studio. I enjoyed that but didn’t love it, simply because all of the hard work I put in wasn’t for me. I lost someone who was very close to me and the last conversation we had was him asking when I was starting my pressure washing business, unfortunatly he never got to witness the greatness that is now Off Course Marine Detailing, but I know he’s here in spirit.
I have been a fisherman since birth and have always been a boat lover. Living at the beach I knew I could take everything I had learned over my life and apply it to a business plan, with a lot more training, sweat, prayers and tears I’ve established a luxury Boat & Auto detailing service based out of beautiful Brunswick County, NC.
We take care of some amazing clients and continue to meet some beautiful people. I have had so much love shown to me since starting this journey.
Off Course Marine Detailing strives for excellence with every single detail, no matter the job. We will continue to grow and become one of the largest names in the industry with the continued support of our peers.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Social media is the key to growing a business in this industry and in most industries. It’s the way of the world, word of mouth is wonderful but social media, you can reach so many more people in different ways. Social media gives a little more insight into my business so potential clients get an idea of the work and individuals behind it. We never meet a stranger (My brother Matt tells me that all the time)
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
I contact my clients at least once a month just to check in. Not for selling purposes but just to remind them they have more than a business, they have a business who cares about them as people, not just clients. Majority of my clients reach out to me, a lot of times to just chat and that means a lot to me. They’re friends, not a paycheck.
