Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Vanessa Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Vanessa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always been passionate about the unique bond between dogs and humans. Growing up in Germany, I spent countless hours immersed in books and dog training shows, always fascinated by how understanding a dog’s behavior could transform its relationship with people. I began helping neighbors with their dogs—often earning a reputation for being the one who could get even the most unruly pups to ‘behave.’ That early experience sparked a deeper passion for bridging the communication gap between dogs and their humans.
Later, while volunteering at a local dog shelter, I was struck by the heartbreaking reality that many families surrendered their dogs due to behavioral challenges. It wasn’t because they didn’t love their pets, but because they lacked the tools to work through those issues. I realized I could help—and that I wanted to help—by offering guidance that could keep families together and give these dogs a second chance.
When I moved to the U.S., this dream felt closer than ever. Friends and family encouraged me to turn my talent into something bigger, and reading Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki gave me the mindset shift I needed. The idea of building a business where I could do what I love while solving a real problem was exciting and logical to me. Around this time, I saw an urgent need in the community: as people returned to their offices, shelters became overwhelmed with surrendered pets. The demand for professional dog training was growing—and I knew I could make a difference.
That’s how Pup’s & Paws Dog Training was born. My approach goes beyond obedience; I focus on fostering harmonious relationships between dogs and their families. Seeing the joy on a client’s face when they reconnect with their dog is the most rewarding part of this journey. It reassures me every day that I made the right decision to turn my passion into a purpose-driven business.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation within the market has been built on delivering consistent results, personalized service, and a genuine dedication to helping families and their dogs succeed. One of the key factors has been the trust and satisfaction of my clients, reflected in the over 75+ five-star reviews we’ve earned on Google alone. Across all platforms, every review we’ve received has been positive, which speaks volumes about the experience and results we provide.
Word-of-mouth referrals have also played a huge role. When clients see their dogs making real progress—whether it’s overcoming anxiety, mastering obedience, or building confidence—they’re excited to share their experience with friends, family, and even online communities. This level of trust has been invaluable to growing my reputation.
Another important factor has been my approach to training. I focus on empowering clients with the tools and knowledge they need to maintain their dog’s progress. By tailoring my methods to each dog’s personality and each family’s specific needs, I ensure the training is not only effective but also long-lasting.
Finally, my engagement on social media has allowed me to connect with a wider audience. Sharing tips, success stories, and behind-the-scenes moments helps potential clients see the heart and expertise behind Pup’s & Paws. The combination of exceptional results, glowing reviews, and transparent communication has been key to building and maintaining a strong reputation in the market.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Maintaining strong relationships with my clients and fostering brand loyalty is a top priority for me. I believe communication should always be convenient and accessible, so I offer multiple ways to stay in touch. Whether it’s via email, Instagram, Facebook, Nextdoor, phone calls, or text messages, I let clients choose the method that works best for them.
Social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook are great for sharing training tips, success stories, and updates about our services. These platforms also allow me to engage directly with clients and followers through comments, messages, and even polls or Q&A sessions. Nextdoor has been especially helpful for connecting with local pet owners and building trust within the community.
For ongoing support, I use email to send personalized follow-ups, progress updates, and reminders. It’s a great way to stay connected and offer additional tips or resources tailored to the client’s needs. For clients who prefer a more personal touch, I’m always available for phone calls or text messages to answer questions or provide encouragement as they continue their training journey.
Ultimately, my goal is to make it as easy as possible for clients to reach out and feel supported. By staying accessible and actively engaging with them through multiple channels, I ensure they feel valued long after their initial training sessions are complete. This approach not only builds loyalty but also strengthens the relationships that make my work so rewarding.
