We recently connected with Kayla Armstrong and have shared our conversation below.
Kayla, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Many people know us as the Heels and Fitness community, but our brand is officially called His Ambitious Girl LLC. Our motto is: “WE WORK FOR GOD, NOT MAN.”
Our mission? To instill Godfidence in women, one dance and fitness session at a time.
Hi, I’m Kayla Nicole Armstrong, the founder of this amazing community. Dance has been a part of my life since I was four years old, but fitness didn’t come into the picture until after I became a mom. Like many mothers, I faced the challenges of postpartum struggles. In the midst of that hardship, God opened a door for me. One night, I heard a whisper: “Heels and Fitness.” That whisper sparked something in me. I stayed up researching the safety and potential benefits of dancing in heels, and the very next day, I laced up my heels and got moving.
Over time, I lost 40 pounds—and something more powerful happened. I found a way to share this transformative experience with other women. Heels and Fitness isn’t just about movement; it’s about carving out time for yourself and embracing how God can work through you. I am grateful for the love and support this program receives, but I always remind every woman who steps into this space: you are His Ambitious Girl, and God has a unique vision for your life, too.
So, what is Godfidence? It’s having unwavering confidence in who God called you to be—and pursuing that person relentlessly.

Kayla, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
During my postpartum journey, I found myself constantly searching for ways to lose weight. Fitness had always been a part of my life, and I knew how to stay in shape, but this time felt different. I couldn’t find the motivation to get up and work out, which was so unlike me. That lack of motivation led me deeper into depression—until I heard that whisper: “Heels and Fitness.”
That whisper changed everything. Suddenly, I was moving daily and smiling again. I looked forward to slipping on my heels and working out for 30 minutes or less each day. Along with making better food choices, I joined Herbalife, which gave me a sense of community and accountability.
One of my Herbalife leaders suggested hosting classes at her nutrition club instead of working out at home. She asked me to try it for three months. I thought she was crazy—but I gave it a shot. To my surprise, we packed the room with about 20 students every Monday!
Fast forward three years, and I’m still hosting these classes. Today, I’m a certified personal trainer through ISSA. I stayed in this industry because I’ve seen firsthand how health and fitness can transform a person’s ability to believe in themselves and in God’s vision for their life. Feeling proud of the woman you are impacts how often you chase your dreams and embrace God’s plan. Too often, we let self-doubt—“I don’t look the part” or “I’m not good enough”—hold us back. But when we take steps to feel good, we can show up for ourselves and others in powerful ways.
Getting certified was an easy decision for me because I wanted to master creating effective 30-minute workouts that women could actually stick to. I fell in love with helping women find consistency and regain confidence in themselves.
Under His Ambitious Girl LLC, we offer free Heels and Fitness sessions every Monday, open to the community. All we ask is that you bring a mat and spread the word. These workouts are recorded for our YouTube channel to inspire women who can’t make it to class in person.
We also have 16 day body-burn fitness challenges, hosted on the His Ambitious Girl app, are designed for simplicity, consistency, and results.
Our goal is to help women rebuild consistency and discipline in their lives, so that it spills over into every area of life. What sets us apart? We deliver everything you need in just 30 minutes—full-body workouts, flexibility and core training, and personal development. Whether you’re in class, at home, or using the app, you get it all in 30 minutes or less.
I’m incredibly proud of the women who’ve supported me in building this community. I call them the OGs—true His Ambitious Girls. I’m forever grateful that God placed them in my life during this journey.
If there’s one thing I want everyone to know, it’s this: we have one rule in our fitness class—“DON’T STOP.” Whether it’s in life or in Heels and Fitness, keep going. You’ve got this!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Great question!
After my first three months teaching Heels and Fitness at the nutrition club, we were invited to host classes at one of the largest dance studios in Atlanta, GA. I thought my life was about to take off! But to my surprise, things got tough. While we had some amazing classes in the beginning, attendance eventually started to drop. It got to the point where the owner told me that if I couldn’t get at least two people in the room, the class would be canceled.
Hearing that broke my heart. I kept wondering where the commitment had gone and what I could’ve done differently. But deep down, I knew the whisper I heard that night—“Heels and Fitness”—wasn’t for nothing. I couldn’t give up.
That’s when I made a pivotal decision for my business: I started taking YouTube seriously. My workout routines take a lot of effort to create, and it felt discouraging to put so much time into something only for two or three people to show up. I realized that instead of focusing solely on in-person classes, I could reach more women by recording the routines and sharing them online.
I asked my videographer to start filming everything so we could upload it to YouTube for women at home who needed this just as much as I once did. That decision reignited my passion because I was once that woman at home, looking for something like Heels and Fitness.
Now, we’ve grown to 11k subscribers on YouTube and have a steady flow of students every Monday in class. That experience taught me the power of pivoting and staying true to the purpose God placed on my heart.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Absolutely! I’m definitely a sermon girly! I truly believe that listening to the right pastors can guide you through life, business, and leadership, all while helping you deepen your relationship with God.
Some of my favorite pastors to listen to are Sarah Jakes Roberts, Pastor Touré Roberts, Pastor Darius Daniels, Pastor Michael Todd, Pastor Mike Jr., and Pastor Keion Henderson.
Their messages have not only helped pull me out of dark times but have also given me hope and the strength to pursue the vision God placed in my heart.
