We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauren Lewis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauren below.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success means different things to different people—whether it’s owning a big house and a luxury car, or enjoying a more flexible schedule with fewer material possessions. Personally, I align more with the latter. I believe that success not only requires hard work and sacrifice, but also the ability to build meaningful relationships. Networking can be stressful, but it’s through these connections that I’ve cultivated long-term client relationships. Regardless of how you define success, it also demands adaptability, discipline, and resilience. In any journey, you’ll often hear more “no’s” than “yes’s,” but the key is to take those setbacks in stride and keep moving forward—or pivot when necessary—to reach your ultimate goal of success.

Lauren, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Lauren Lewis, a passionate photographer and videographer based in Palm Coast, FL. Photography has been a lifelong love of mine, and I graduated in May 2024 with an A.S. in Digital & Interactive Media Production from Daytona State College. In July 2023, I officially launched my business, and I’ve been fortunate to see it grow steadily since.
In addition to my work in photography and videography, I’m a licensed and insured drone pilot, which allows me to offer stunning aerial shots at many of my shoots. My specialties include real estate, branding, portraits, and concerts—but I truly thrive on the creative challenge that comes with any new idea or concept my clients bring to the table.
Building this business from the ground up has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come in a relatively short time. I’m fortunate to have built relationships with many repeat clients who have become friends, and I truly feel connected to my community. I love the excitement of collaborating with new clients, bouncing ideas off one another, and turning their visions into reality.
While I’m based in Palm Coast, I’m always eager to travel and ready to take on any opportunity to capture stunning photos and videos, no matter where it may be.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Word of mouth has been by far the most effective marketing strategy for my business. Attending networking events gives me the chance to meet people face-to-face, fostering deeper connections than simply reaching out through social media. While I’ve certainly gained clients through online platforms, in-person interactions provide an invaluable opportunity to build real relationships within my community. After working together, my clients often feel so confident in their experience that they’re eager to refer me to their friends and colleagues. There’s something about knowing someone who’s worked with me personally that gives them an added layer of trust, rather than just relying on a stranger they’ve never met.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2021, the job I had grown to love was acquired by a larger company. During the transition, I was also facing some personal challenges, and after reflecting on it, I realized that while I enjoyed my work, I wouldn’t feel the same once the new company took over. That’s when I decided to make a change. I always had an interest in graphic design, so I enrolled in Daytona State College’s digital media program with the goal of eventually designing and wrapping cars.
However, once I started the program and took a graphic design class, I quickly realized it wasn’t the path for me. But what I did discover was that my passion for photography was still very much alive—and through a few video classes, I found a new love for videography. This shift was both disappointing and exhilarating. It dawned on me that I could turn this passion into a career.
From there, everything fell into place. I made countless valuable connections during my time at DSC, many of which have directly led to the opportunities and success I’ve found in this field. And the rest, as they say, is history.
