We recently connected with Joy Rowland and have shared our conversation below.
Joy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
For a long time, I believed that success was something elusive, gifted only to a lucky few. Growing up, it felt like the people who “made it” were simply in the right place at the right time. It wasn’t until I began my own entrepreneurial journey that I realized success is far less about luck and far more about the inner stories we tell ourselves about money, wealth, and worth.
One pivotal moment in my transformation came when I dug into my own money story. I discovered that many of my beliefs about success and wealth were rooted in what I absorbed before the age of 7. Yes, did you know that all of our money story is imprinted and embedded into our minds before the age of 7? Like a sponge, I soaked up the narratives and attitudes around money from my environment and what my parents said about money — whether it was that “money doesn’t grow on trees” or that you have to work tirelessly to achieve financial success. These messages shaped my subconscious, creating blocks that kept me from fully aligning with the success I was striving for.
The turning point came when I started the deep, intentional work of uncovering these blocks. By revisiting those early messages, I was able to challenge and rewrite the ones that no longer served me. For example, instead of seeing money as something scarce or difficult to earn, I began to view it as a resource that flows naturally when I show up with confidence, purpose, and a willingness to be visible.
Success, I’ve learned, is less about external factors and more about the inner work of rewiring your mindset. It’s about stepping into a version of yourself that believes deeply in your capacity to create wealth and impact—and aligning your actions with that belief.
Today, I guide other entrepreneurs through this same journey. Watching them experience their own breakthroughs reinforces my conviction that success is not luck; it’s the result of rewiring your subconscious to see wealth and opportunity everywhere.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Joy Rowland, a Money and Business Coach for entrepreneurs, and my mission is to help people achieve financial peace and unlock their potential for success. My journey into this industry wasn’t linear — it was born out of personal challenges and a deep desire to create lasting impact. I used to struggle with the belief that success was reserved for others, thinking that wealth and achievement were about luck rather than intention. But through my own transformation, I learned to rewrite my story, and now I empower others to do the same.
I specialize in helping business owners overcome money blocks, build confidence, and adopt strategies that generate consistent income. My program focuses on mindset shifts, financial clarity, and visibility strategies. Whether it’s teaching simple and effective cash flow management methods, guiding clients to become magnetic and visible, or helping them create systems for sustained business growth, I provide tools to help my clients achieve their goals with joy and ease.
One thing that sets me apart is my holistic approach. I believe financial success is not just about numbers — it’s about the stories we tell ourselves. That’s why my coaching addresses both the practical and emotional sides of business. I guide my clients in overcoming subconscious money blocks rooted in childhood experiences and equip them with systems and strategies to thrive. This blend of mindset work and actionable business tools is at the heart of what I do.
I’m most proud of the transformations my clients experience. From breaking free of self-doubt to landing high-ticket clients, their success stories fuel my passion. One client recently shared how they rewired their beliefs about money and became visible through guest podcasts, ultimately doubling their business revenue. These are the moments that remind me why I started this journey.
At the core of my brand is the belief that financial peace and success are possible for everyone. I want potential clients and followers to know that they don’t have to hustle endlessly to achieve their dreams. With the right mindset and strategies, they can create a life and business they love—one that aligns with their values and purpose.
Above all, my work is about empowering others to embrace abundance, transform their relationship with money, and take consistent, confident action. I’m here to guide and support them every step of the way, helping them build not just a business, but a legacy of joy and impact.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience is a muscle I’ve had to strengthen over the years, and one defining moment stands out vividly. Early in my business journey, I decided to host a workshop. I poured my heart into the content, envisioned a packed room, and believed it would be the start of something incredible. But when the day came, only two people showed up. I felt crushed — like my efforts had been for nothing.
That experience could have been the end of my dream, but instead, it became a turning point. I realized I had two choices: I could let the disappointment define my story, or I could choose to see it as an opportunity to grow. I focused on the latter.
I treated those two attendees as if they were a room full of 200, delivering the best workshop I possibly could. I poured into them, shared my knowledge, and built connections. One of those attendees became a long-term client, and the other referred me to several others. That small workshop taught me that success isn’t about the numbers — it’s about the impact.
From there, I learned to embrace setbacks as part of the journey. I adjusted my strategies, refined my messaging, and worked tirelessly to build my confidence and clarity. Today, I teach my clients that resilience isn’t about avoiding challenges — it’s about deciding to rise after every fall, to show up even when it’s hard, and to focus on the possibilities rather than the obstacles.
That experience not only strengthened my resolve but also reminded me of the power of staying committed to my vision, no matter how small the start might seem. Resilience is about finding purpose in the process and showing up with unwavering determination, even when the odds seem stacked against you. It’s a lesson I carry with me every day, and one I aim to pass on to everyone I work with.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that working harder is the only way to achieve success. Growing up, I internalized the idea that success required endless effort, constant striving, and even sacrifice. This belief was reinforced by messages I heard as a child, like “You have to work twice as hard to get half as far.” I carried this mindset into adulthood, wearing my hard work as a badge of honor.
But as I built my business, I hit a wall. No matter how many hours I put in, I wasn’t seeing the results I expected. I was exhausted, frustrated, and questioning if I was cut out for entrepreneurship. Then, I had a pivotal moment of reflection — I realized I was stuck in a cycle of “busy work,” mistaking activity for progress.
This realization led me to challenge and unlearn the narrative that more effort equals more success. I began to explore smarter ways of working — streamlining processes, using automation tools, and aligning my goals with my values. Most importantly, I shifted my mindset to focus on the quality of my efforts rather than the quantity.
One example of this shift was learning how to leverage visibility through podcast guest appearances and collaborations. Instead of hustling to get in front of every potential client, I honed in on meaningful opportunities that aligned with my message. This not only saved time but also created a bigger impact than all my previous hustle combined.
Unlearning this belief was a game-changer. I now teach my clients that success is about alignment, not overexertion. When we release the need to prove our worth through sheer effort, we create space for clarity, creativity, and sustainable growth. This mindset shift transformed my business—and my life—and it’s a lesson I’m passionate about sharing with others.
