We recently connected with Samvel Arutiunian and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samvel , thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
I worked on many projects, such as Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Moscow and creating hairstyles for models at Dubai Fashion Week. However, the most memorable event was a grand show where my colleagues from ARTEM/K/HAIR SALON and I set a California record by completing 100 hairstyles in 60 minutes. It was an unforgettable experience to personally contribute to such a colorful and fabulous performance in front of an audience of more than 400 guests, including famous bloggers, journalists, and fashion designers.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My journey in the beauty industry began over 16 years ago when I moved to Moscow from a small town near Tashkent. One day, I walked into a small hair salon, where I met the stylists and began visiting them regularly.
I was intrigued by their work and the genuine gratitude they received from their clients… Perhaps that was when I realized how much I was drawn to this profession. One day, while sitting in the chair during a haircut, I thought: “What if I become a stylist myself? How wonderful it would be to make people even more beautiful!” By the way, this is the motto I still live by today.
It’s hard for me to pinpoint any specific milestones as the most important. Perhaps everything just moved in an upward trajectory. My professional story began with awards at international competitions when I was just starting out as a hairstylist-designer.
Later, I was invited to work with L’Oréal Professional, a division of the Matrix brand, where I conducted training seminars in Moscow and other cities across Russia. A pivotal moment in my career was participating in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Moscow and Dubai Fashion Week in Dubai. And, of course, my collaboration with the TV show “Fashion Verdict” on Channel One was the ultimate recognition of my achievements and authority in the fashion industry.
My work has been featured in various global fashion magazines, and I regularly write articles about trends, techniques, and the philosophy of hairstyling.
I’ve been part of many exciting programs, but there are a few that stand out. One such project was a ballroom dance competition in the heart of Hollywood, where my model won first place in several categories. Another significant project was an event in Los Angeles, where I created hairstyles for the contestants of the Mrs. European Universe beauty pageant. I had the honor of working on the U.S. theatrical tour of My Grandson Benjamin, where I was responsible for creating looks for the legendary actress Lia Akhedzhakova, one of the most renowned and respected figures in Russian theater and cinema. During the Los Angeles performance on December 3rd, I was tasked with designing her iconic look, as well as styling other cast members. My role was to ensure that each look perfectly aligned with the overall concept of the production, highlighting the individuality of the actors while staying true to the artistic vision of the show. Attention to detail and a creative approach helped create visual unity and professionalism that made this project truly special.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Mission: Your primary goal is to create beauty and confidence in people through the art of hairstyling, with a constant drive for growth and improvement. You aim to inspire and teach others by sharing your knowledge of trends, techniques, and the philosophy of hairstyling. Making people more beautiful and giving them positive emotions is not just a profession for you, but a life mission.
Goal: Your goal is to continue professional growth, participate in international projects and competitions, and develop as an expert and mentor in the industry. You want to not only create stylish and up-to-date looks but also influence the development of the industry through training seminars, publications, and personal projects.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started building my audience on social media by sharing not only the results of my work but also the process of creating hairstyles. The key is to be consistent, show authenticity, respond to comments, and use relevant hashtags. Regular interaction with followers helps build trust. It’s also important to work on your personal brand to stand out and attract people with similar interests.
