Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brenda Garcia. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brenda , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
When I started Events by BBG I had a regular full time , a 9 to 5 job. I did both Wedding planning and my “day job” full time for almost 5 years. I decided to leave that job one day after I applied for a completely remote position and ended up not getting it. I can whole heartedly say , I am completely happier being a business owner and being on my own. I don’t think I would be able to do this , the way I do it with a regular job and I would also be miserable at a regular job . I really truly enjoy planning weddings.

Brenda , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Funny enough I fell in love with wedding planning after planning my own wedding. Although I am now in a whole new relationship, I loved everything about bringing a wedding day all together. Everyone around me was also getting married so I helped them plan their special days and thought it would be an amazing idea to make a living out of it. I had a wedding planner , who after my wedding took me under her wing and showed me everything there is to know about being a wedding planner/ coordinator. I have been doing this for almost six years, although every wedding is different and special in their own way , I fall in love with it all over again each time. I am so proud of how far Events by BBG has come in , what I feel , is a short time. I’ve taken her to so many beautiful venues in Florida and will hopefully be taking her outside of Florida this year.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Oh Social Media, Social Media is so hard sometimes. I always say it’s the hardest part of the job , probably because you have to stay so consistent with it. I grew my Social media by just that staying consistent , posting every day or every other day. I also grew by joining in on Giveaways with other vendor friends. From working so many weddings I also made a lot of friends in the industry so eventually they would post me. A lot of people have told me , I grew my social media by showing my face on all socials and showing my personality. Best advice I can give is, even if you feel like no one cares or no one is watching they are. Post it! If you build it , they will come!

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source for new clients for me is Instagram or Social media, but definitely the biggest is word of mouth. Past clients recommending me and Vendors recommendations is the absolute best.
