Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Wildflowa.
Hi Samantha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born into a middle class family in Seattle, Washington. I grew up outside – playing – creating make believe lands in the cul-de-sac. When bored, invited to “go paint”. Middle school and high school were difficult times and I found sanctuary in creating art. Whether that was photoshoots with my sister in the backyard, writing and illustrating short stories, or singing in the church choir. Artistic expression has been my own version of refuge since as long as I can remember.
For a long time I was very shy with my art; whether that was singing in front of people, playing guitar too loudly or showing people my paintings. I was praised for my photography which I was content with because I could physically hide behind the camera.
Photography was good but it wasn’t enough. I needed to find a way to express my emotions without words or even tangible objects. So I found myself back in front of my canvas throwing colors.
I have only been sharing my art publicly now for two years. Absolutely incredible how much growth has taken place since then… I am creating pieces and connecting with community through my art in ways younger Sam would never have imagined. Just within the last six months I have watched my Watercolor Aura Portraits organically bloom into 1:1 readings that include Oracle Card pulls and Reiki healing.
I continue to actively push myself outside of every creative limitation disguised as a comfortable medium. Actively seeking magick in the mundane. New ways to create and express.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest challenge on my journey has been Self Doubt. I am my own biggest critic. When in reality, we are all master manifestors in this realm. Here to create the exact lives we wish to live.
Not thinking you are good enough or that you won’t succeed is the fastest route to failure… Already having convinced yourself you won’t succeed, you have essentially talked yourself out of even trying.
The term ‘fake it until you make it’ is a solid piece of advice. The universe doesn’t know when you’re faking it, so if you keep showing up everyday doing your absolute best – even if you are scared or nervous or exhausted – the universe is going to reflect back to you the same amount of energy you are outputting. And before no time, the showing up will be like second nature, not even a thought just a daily action.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love creating abstract art because there are no rules. I can feel and intuitively choose how to translate. My only “code” with abstract art is to always seek balance within my paintings. My art needs to have balance in color, shading, texture and shapes.
I am currently moving through a softer era within my art… primarily using watercolor on canvas with splashes of oil paint to add texture. I call this new collection: “The Art of Softening”. After using heavy textures for the past year this shift has been very calming to my nervous system. Like a soft, warm breeze after a brutal incline to the summit.
I continue to offer Watercolor Aura Portraits readings – primarily at in person events in Seattle, Olympia, and Portland – but also for 1:1 clients. This offering includes a 30min Watercolor Aura Portrait reading, 3-5 card Oracle pull to help integrate the reading and light, intuitive Reiki to assist with energy movement/ release within the auric field.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I believe “good luck” and “great outcomes” are really the harmonizing of opportunity meets preparation. It really is all about energy output vs energy received: a balancing act. To put it bluntly, don’t expect handouts. As much as I believe that personal drive and goals are essential for success, I also believe that surrender and trust in the Divine are of equal importance. We are all co-creators in our own realities. That being said, if you want something: go get it, no matter how impossible that something seems to achieve. My something looks like being a full-time artist; creating art that inspires and heals the collective.
Opportunities are the “good luck” but they will only be beneficial if you are prepared.
