Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jazenn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Jazenn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on so far since I’ve started music is probably the EP I’ve been creating for the past few years. Something I created on my own dime and by myself. In between the time of the project I learned so much from other producers, artists, even friends or family around me. As time went on, I applied whatever it was that I learned and made my sound rise to a level I grew happy with. I’m hoping to present it to the public eye by the Fall for sure.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is JaZenn, a recording artist out of Michigan, and I’ve been releasing music consistently for about a year or two. But prior to my first release, I’ve been writing music since I was around 16. I didn’t release anything prior to 2023 mostly because i didn’t know where to start and I felt kinda nervous about taking the jump. Often asking myself if I wanted to do this or is it even for me. You know, just overthinking it. And I sort of used that as a way to create this alter ego. That’s when I came up with the name JaZenn. Someone who strives for what they desire and speak whatever is in his mind through music. Without the fear of being judged by anybody no matter how successful they are or whatever the case be. I want JaZenn to be the voice of the silent people who are worthy to chase the life they wanna live but just really don’t know how to express it or even try. Just go for it and don’t look back.
I just want to remain as authentic as possible, like yeah i wanna be at the highest level with my art but I really don’t want to throw my morales out the window just for a little glory. That’s something I pray to keep.
I can say I’m really proud that I finally came out of my shell. Throughout high school even college, I knew I wanted to make music. But I was always self conscious about my voice, or the quality of sound, or even too scared to hop in front of the camera and just do what I’ve always done behind closed doors. But now as of today, I feel I can do anything. I’m prepared for any moment and I feel this is the year to show it.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding to me is having the ability to connect with people through art. I’ve met a lot of people who been through the same things, or maybe like the same sounds that I’ve studied for a long time, or even makes music themselves. Having that helps me get a better understanding on music. I just love to connect through art and I feel that’s the most important thing that we all share in this world. Art creates bridges.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Stop trying to please people all the time. You’ll never win…never. Sometimes you do things out the kindness of your heart, but people tend to abuse that. Like you can’t really open that for anyone because they may overstep your boundaries and now you’re feelings is hurt because you tried to be Mr (or Ms) nice guy (or woman). I’ve tried to please many people in my past but sometimes you can’t make everybody happy. It’s best just to focus on you.
