We were lucky to catch up with Luna Lynn Day recently and have shared our conversation below.

Luna Lynn , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I have always known I would do something creative and artistic with my life. I’ve identified as an artist for as long as I can remember. I live and breathe creativity.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I am a Burlesque Performer known as “The Tap Dancing Tease” and I create unique Tap Burlesque acts! My background is in dance and I have a B.F.A in Ballet Performance. I was ‘retired’ from performing when I discovered Burlesque a few years ago. It lit a fire in me and made me fall back in love with performing.

The life of a Burlesque performer is so multifaceted! The list of required skills range from artistic to business oriented. Since I started performing Burlesque, I have also directed & produced 4 different stage shows. Additionally, I taught myself how to sew and make all of my costumes. I spend hours every week hunched over the sewing machine and laboriously hand placing rhinestones on every inch of my costumes!

Much time is also spent on act development which includes: creating the concept, choosing and editing the music, choreographing the routine, and costuming it accordingly. Not to mention all of the rehearsal, practice and training that goes into being stage ready. Additionally, as a full time performer, there is much administrative work to accomplish. From booking performances, networking with creatives, running multiple social media channels, creating online content, building and maintaining a website, tracking accounting and expenses, the offstage list far outweighs the mere minutes we spend onstage.

I create & perform a unique fusion of Tap Dance & Burlesque and am constantly working on creating new and inventive acts in this vein. This is my 3rd year pursuing a full-time Burlesque career and I have so many exciting projects in the works, make sure you follow my social media channels or join my patreon to follow along the journey!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

Absolutely! It took me about 2 years in the field to really hone in on my exact goal, but boy was it satisfying when I narrowed in on it.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

Making art is a daily practice for me. Not a day goes by where I don’t exercise the creative part of my brain. This wasn’t always the case, so I have a deep sense of gratitude for being able to do what I love everyday.
