We recently connected with Andrea Gutillo and have shared our conversation below.
Andrea, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Yes! Enchanted Treasures Trading Co. is a one-of-a-kind metaphysical resale shop specializing in gently used and pre-loved treasures, including unique vintage and antique items, metaphysical tools, books, crystals, and more. Unlike traditional metaphysical shops, we give these items new life and purpose. We also offer a special program where customers can trade in their items for cash or store credit. Every piece is carefully cleansed—both physically and energetically—before being placed on our shelves, ensuring that each item carries only positive, refreshed energy for its next owner. To the best of my knowledge, there are no other resale metaphysical stores like ours. I chose resale because I believe in sustainability and the beauty of giving items a second life, while making spiritual tools more accessible and affordable. We also focus on building community through diverse offerings, classes, fundraising to support those in need, workshops, unique events, and a community entrepreneur section that showcases local businesses and artists. This creates a space for people to connect, grow, and explore their spiritual journeys.
Andrea, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Andrea Gutillo, a proud wife and mother of two, and the owner of Enchanted Treasures Trading Co., a metaphysical resale shop that is unlike anything else in the industry. I’m passionate about creating a space where people can explore their spiritual paths, connect with others, and find treasures that truly resonates with them. My journey into the metaphysical world began in 2019. For several years I explored spirituality on my own, learning and growing through solo discovery, exploring different practices, tools, and traditions. Eventually, I decided to branch out and became part of a large sisterhood—a community of incredible hardworking women, many of whom are entrepreneurs running their own businesses. This experience not only deepened my spiritual journey but also inspired me to create something of my own.
I have always loved thrifting, finding unique treasures, and giving items a second life. I wanted to merge that passion with my spiritual path to create a space where pre-loved metaphysical tools could find new homes. That vision became Enchanted Treasures Trading Co., a shop that focuses on sustainability, accessibility, and community. My shop specializes in offering gently used metaphysical tools, crystals, books, and more, all at an affordable price.
One of the things that makes Enchanted Treasures truly special is the CommUNITY Sections woven throughout the store. Local artisans and small businesses have their creations and products featured— from unique handmade jewelry and candles to art, herbal blends, and self-care products. It’s all about supporting local talent, giving these creators a chance to connect with customers, and helping them grow their businesses. Seeing the creativity and passion they pour into their work is truly inspiring!
What I am most proud of is the environment I’ve created—a place where people feel comfortable being themselves. When customers walk into my shop, they feel supported, heard, and truly seen. I am passionate about uplifting others and making sure everyone knows their worth. Whether it’s through a conversation, a warm hug, or a meaningful connection, I try to make sure that every person who enters leaves feeling better than when they arrived. My store is more than just a store—it is a safe haven, a commUNITY space, and a source of inspiration and support for anyone on their spiritual journey.
I am also incredibly proud of the broader community I have built through the shop. We don’t just sell items; we create connections. Our classes, workshops, and events are designed to bring people together, help them grow, and provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to explore their spiritual paths. Whether it’s Psychic Saturdays, a make-and-take workshop, meditations, day retreats, candlelight vigils, classes, or one of our seasonal celebrations, there is always something going on to help people grow and connect.
At the end of the day, Enchanted Treasures Trading Co. is all about sustainability, accessibility, and community. I want people to feel like they are part of something bigger when they walk through the door. Whether you are new to this journey or have been on it for years, I am here to welcome you, support you, and help you find what you are looking for.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes, it all started with my love for thrifting. Some of my favorite memories are with my mom—she’s my best friend. We would spend hours at thrift stores, hunting for unique treasures and loving the thrill of giving items a second chance. That, combined with my journey into the metaphysical world, led me here.
When I first started exploring spirituality, I was learning on my own—discovering tools, practices, and beliefs. During that time, I noticed how expensive many metaphysical tools could be. I also realized how easy it was to purchase items that did not quite resonate with me once I brought them home. I thought, “It would be amazing to have a way to trade those items in and try something else. What if I could create a space where these items were more accessible and affordable?” That idea sparked everything.
The idea took shape at local outdoor markets, where my husband and I teamed up to create something special. We started at the Blue Raven Full Moon Market in St. Petersburg, FL, selling pre-loved metaphysical items, altar pieces, and vintage treasures. My husband, Mark Anthony Gutillo—a full-service jeweler and owner of Vincent’s Fine Jewelry and Coin in Seminole, FL—brought his expertise to the table with his handcrafted pieces and carefully curated vintage and antique jewelry. Together, we created a unique collection that people absolutely loved.
Unfortunately, after a car accident, I could not physically manage the labor of setting up and breaking down at markets anymore. It was tough to step away, but several months later, a spot opened in the same shopping plaza as my husband’s jewelry store. I decided to take a leap of faith and open a brick-and-mortar shop—Enchanted Treasures Trading Co., a Metaphysical Resale Shop, opened April 14, 2024.
The response has been amazing. I’ve built a loyal base of return customers who leave incredible reviews and compliments. The shop has grown into more than just a retail space; it is a community hub where people come to connect, feel supported, and explore their spiritual journeys. What started as a small side hustle has blossomed into something truly special, and I am so grateful for the journey that led me here!
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
My business is still fairly new, and thankfully, we have been successful so far. However, we did face some challenging times recently when three hurricanes—Debby, Helene, and Milton—hit our area within just two months. The devastation was widespread. Close family members of mine lost everything, and many people in our community are still displaced, trying to rebuild their lives.
We are feeling the effects in ways we did not initially anticipate. Our area typically sees a large influx of northerners during the winter season, which helps support all of our local businesses. However, this year, that’s just not happening at the usual level. Many people are not coming down because the damage from the hurricanes has left them with nothing to return to. Entire neighborhoods are still in ruins, and a lot of businesses have had to close or downsize due to the damage and lack of customers. The hurricane’s aftermath has disrupted everything. It’s been a huge challenge for us and for many of my fellow small business owners in the area.
While we have not had a ‘near-death moment’ for the business, those months were definitely rough. We are still working to recover from the impact, all while doing our best to support our local community and family. Despite the challenges, I am incredibly grateful for the support of my loyal customers and the resilience of our community. It’s a reminder of how much small businesses rely on the strength and connection of the people around them.
