We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Paige Beverly. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Paige below.
Alright, Paige thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
As an educator and someone who has been passionate about supporting others in their journey of being lifelong learners, I have always been a mission-driven individual. In the role of classroom teacher and when I tutor and went through schooling, my purpose in my work was always to be the face and educator that I never received growing up. As a young black girl who did not have any teachers that looked like me or knew my experience navigating the world, I knew I had the gift of teaching and also never wanting any child to feel like me. Pre-judgment preceded me in every room I entered, and I wanted to change that for every child I encountered.
Leading into beginning my tutoring and mentoring business, The Tutoring Paige, my mission and vision encompasses meeting students where they are at all levels, abilities and life experiences and allowing them to fully be themselves in a world that may not always be so accepting. “ At The Tutoring Paige, our mission is to empower every student to reach their full potential through personalized learning, inclusive support, and cultural understanding. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where neurotypical youth and those with high incidence and low incidence disabilities can thrive academically, linguistically, and socially. With a commitment to individualized attention and tailored guidance, we strive to instill confidence, foster growth, and inspire lifelong learning in every student we serve.”

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi all! My name is Paige Beverly, and I am a 26-year old Special Education Teacher and tutor in the Baltimore area. I am building my own tutoring and mentoring business, The Tutoring Paige, which I intend to grow into a nation-wide and global company that provides opportunities to educators and mentors in all fields while reaching students at all levels and abilities.
I came to love education from a very young age; at age 8 I knew I loved teaching my friends and family new things. My dream job in elementary school was to be a college professor, seriously! I got my start by taking any positions I could, volunteering at camps and schools and even being a youth soccer coach. When it was time for college, I attended Goucher College in Towson, MD and earned my Bachelor’s degree in French and Education. While at Goucher, I had the pleasure of completing internships and fieldwork at several schools and organizations, including L’Institut Saint Famille d’Helmet in Brussels, Belgium, and the Harbor School and ACCE in Baltimore. From Goucher, I began working as a small group tutor for AmeriCorps, which led me to discover NYU Steinhardt’s MAT program. I earned my Master’s Degree in Special Education from NYU, while still working with AmeriCorps and completing my teacher residency. This brings us to the present, where I have been working as a Special Education Teacher since 2021. All of the things I have learned as an educator through my experiences have inspired me to create and foster The Tutoring Paige.
What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to personalized learning. Being fluent in French and deeply immersed in Belgian culture during a transformative six-month study abroad experience, I understand the importance of cultural competence and linguistic proficiency in today’s interconnected world.
My vision extends beyond conventional tutoring. My ultimate goal is to create a nurturing environment where neurotypical youth and those with high incidence and low incidence disabilities alike can thrive. With a dedication to individualized learning tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs, The Tutoring Paige promises opportunities for growth and success for all.
Whether your child requires support in academic subjects, language acquisition, or navigating the complexities of learning differences, The Tutoring Paige is here to guide them every step of the way. We currently provide tutoring services in K-8 Math and ELA, and all-level French.
Overall, I feel that I’m most proud of becoming the educator that my younger self always wanted. I’m proud that I’ve gotten to experience learners from all backgrounds who have taught me so much about myself, and who have allowed me to grow personally and professionally.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I love this question! The best part about education is that it provides so much opportunity to build strong interpersonal relationships with others. As you may have heard a teacher or 5 say, “before they care what you know, they must know you care.”
That being said, I am sure to always keep in touch with my students/clients and their families beyond tutoring sessions. I have many conversations beforehand to get to know the student, their learning style and their interests. If I haven’t heard from a client, I’m always sure to reach out them to check in and to offer my services in the ways that best suit their needs. I believe our website and Instagram have been helpful in keeping up with clients as well!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have had to pivot many, many times in my life, but I truly feel that I’m experiencing the most significant pivot of my life currently!
My partner and I are currently expecting a baby boy, so I am pivoting into the biggest journey of my life – motherhood!
Becoming a mommy soon has given me a new outlook on my physical and mental health and well-being. I know that I am becoming the lifelong teacher to a new little life, and that I must be the most present for him. While I love my current full-time job as a special education teacher, being in the classroom environment now with inconsistent support and constant stress can take the joy out of the craft that I love at moments. I know a change has to be made. Being pregnant with my beautiful son has encouraged me to pivot and make the change out of my current job, and to explore new career opportunities while pouring more into The Tutoring Paige with promotion and building my clientele. My son is my biggest motivator and reason to pivot personally and as an educator growing her business!
