We recently connected with Edna Mancia and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Edna thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about how you’ve thought about whether to sign with an agent or manager?
I am over-joyed that I am signed with Page Parkes and they are an incredible mother agency. After some major life changes, I had the opportunity to pursue acting in a much greater capacity and decided to walk into the Page Parkes offices to ask all the questions I had about the acting world and what it may take to be signed with an agent.
I then met, career advisor, Kaitlin Sliger, and she helped to answer the questions I had about acting. I then told her about my previous acting credits to my name, but she informed me that any great actor will have training credits in their resume. She did also make a good point that the teachers at Page Parkes went through their training with the agency, now are “booked and busy,” and are currently teaching future actors/actresses. So, I decided to make the leap and jumped into the classes. After the initial training program came the audition and I can happily say I was chosen to be signed and represented by Page Parkes!
The classes were honestly super insightful and a fun form of therapy as well. I was able to dive deeper in character development and become better on stage and screen. I loved working with and meeting everyone, thankful for the school led by Lucas Hughes, and of course all the teachers like, Alfonso Aguirre, Nickey Winders, David Simpson, and Evan Glover.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always had a passion for the arts since I was a young girl. Growing up, bonding time meant we always had some sort of movie or TV show on, and the ones that fully captured my attention were musicals. With the passion musicals gave me and my innate curiosity, I began searching for anything to fuel that creative spark—whether it was through music, learning to play the piano, trying my hand at the violin, or taking a shot at singing and earning awards. I had amazing teachers who encouraged my passions and gave me the confidence to know that I was (and am) talented.
It wasn’t until junior high and high school that I fully immersed myself in the theater world and fell in love with both acting and music. I knew it was something I had always loved and had fun with because it was a true escape from reality, a way to become someone else for a short period of time.
As an adult, I did my fair share of research to understand what I needed to pursue those passions more fully. After some major life changes, I decided to seek out Page Parkes for the training I needed to grow in the craft and to connect with my now mother agency in Texas.
In addition to my passion for the creative arts, I am a Digital Marketer specializing in Social Media Marketing. With 8 years of experience in the field, I truly enjoy blending creativity with strategy to help businesses grow and thrive. Currently, I am serving as the Social Media Manager at Star Sailor in Houston, Texas. It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience working with a micro-business and supporting the local community. As I continue to evolve in my career, I am actively seeking a new opportunity where I can further develop my skills and make an even greater impact in the marketing world.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My drive on this creative journey is simply to have fun. I truly love that, as an adult, I get to play pretend and tap into my imagination. I enjoy being able to stay curious and use what I learn to bring a character to life. That’s what motivates me—I get to have fun while I work. Plus, it helps that I’m constantly learning and keeping my mind busy.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, from a Content Creator’s perspective, is the opportunity to support local businesses. Not only do I get to express my creativity by showcasing their spaces, products, or events, but I also have the chance to market their businesses in a unique way. While the content creator space may seem oversaturated, each of us brings a different perspective, allowing us to tell stories in our own way and reach diverse audiences.
