We recently connected with Anna Nuby and have shared our conversation below.

Anna, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?

I hope to build a legacy of strength and serenity. I pray that my name always uplifts and brings joy to the soul speaking it or hearing it. That my passion for people, lives far beyond my own life. That my contributions to my community stand strong like trees and create shade for those who find comfort in my journey and testimony. Above all I pray my legacy speaks of God’s work and wonders and how he qualifies that called.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Anna Nuby socially known as CEO Anna. I created a platform called BlackBoxBlog5051, 8 years ago in my best friends’ kitchen. I wanted to create and educational corner for anyone who was on a journey of self and self-healing, I taught ways of not just readjusting the mind to match the heart, but also for the body to match the mind. I focused in on nutrition and dealing with childhood trauma and I grew to teaching about real history and origins of English language as well as cultural appreciation. I tend to wonder mentally into very deep rabbit holes of education, wisdom, and knowledge of life. I have found myself speaking to many different souls that walk earth’s plane. I love that communication connects us all and the need to be seen and heard makes us all feel alive. I have worked really hard to be transparent and fluid for the community I serve. I never want to seem too big or like I’ve outgrown those who supported me first. I always want my community to know that I’m me and I will remain me.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?

The only goal that will ever drive my creativity is freedom of life. To have the freedom to travel spend sleep and eat as I please. As God intended for my family and I to live and reign. I am currently plotting on a family compound to give my mother and grandmother freedoms from financial obligations of daily life and to be able to afford them comfort. As well as my siblings and close friends. Thats on a much larger scale goal list (5-10) year. My immediate goals right now are opening a storefront and completing dental school.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?

Moving post covid was a hard transition for me. Moving period is already a hard task, but I moved 7 hours away from my previous residence to a familiar state so that I could resolidify my stability. Covid was a hard financial season for me because, so much was in the air for me at the time. My son was needing better education resources to set him up for the real world as he would be graduating soon, and my youngest son was getting ready to enter the world as it was his first year of school. My place of employment had just closed. Facebook had shadow banned my platform and I had recently totaled out my car in a wreck. Life was up and I felt that I was down. I know have grown through this transition to understand it was a shedding of the old me and the awakening of a better version of myself that I had worked hard and prayed to become. I moved back to KC from Memphis and Jumped headfirst into work that aligned with what I was doing on BlackBox. In just 2 years, I’ve been booked to host 3 business bashes, I’ve costarred on 3 podcasts located in KCMO, The Love Live, Talk Dat Real, Bonnets Business and Blunts (all available on YouTube for viewing). In September 2024 I was interviewed by The Black Umbrella TV network and later that month became a part of the Network as the communication and advocate director. I remember not wanting to move back to KS, it was a change I didn’t ask for. God knew and always knows, we just have to trust the journey and stay faithful and focused. My oldest son has now graduated high school and is attending college for Network Architect. My youngest son has done exceptionally well in school and became top of his class for math and reading in first grade. BlackBox made it return November 2024 after years of not being able to reach my community and having to start all the way over on social media. I’m excited to see where 2025 takes me and how far I fly. Not just in my career but also as a mother, and woman.
