We were lucky to catch up with Beth Djalali recently and have shared our conversation below.
Beth, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success means different things to different people, but there are a few key principles that guide the journey, no matter your goals:
Consistency: Showing up every day, even when it’s hard, is the foundation of success. Small, consistent steps often lead to big results.
Adaptability: Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. Those who succeed learn to embrace change, pivot when necessary, and see challenges as opportunities to grow.
Authenticity: Staying true to yourself and your values is vital. Success achieved by compromising who you are is rarely fulfilling.
Curiosity: Never stop learning. Whether it’s staying on top of trends, building new skills, or simply exploring your interests, curiosity keeps you relevant and energized.
Resilience: The road to success isn’t always smooth. It takes grit and determination to push through setbacks and keep your eyes on the prize.
Gratitude: Celebrating the little wins and appreciating the people who support you along the way keeps you grounded and motivated.
Ultimately, success is not just about reaching a destination but enjoying the journey, savoring the lessons, and making a positive impact along the way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Beth Djalali started *Style at a Certain Age* as a way to inspire and empower women over 50 to embrace aging with confidence, style, and grace. The blog began as a creative outlet for her to share her passion for fashion, beauty, and healthy living, particularly addressing the challenges and opportunities that come with getting older.
Beth noticed a lack of relatable resources for women in her age group who wanted to look stylish while navigating the shifts in body, lifestyle, and priorities that occur later in life. She leveraged her keen eye for classic fashion and her ability to balance trends with timeless looks to build a community of like-minded women.
Her authentic voice resonated with readers who appreciated her candid, encouraging approach. Over time, *Style at a Certain Age* evolved to cover not just fashion, but also wellness, travel, home decor, and lifestyle tips, making it a well-rounded resource for women looking to thrive at any age.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Beth Djalali’s journey from “Mom to Mogul” at 56 is an inspiring story of reinvention, resilience, and purpose. After raising her children and fulfilling her role as a mother, Beth found herself at a crossroads, ready to embark on a new chapter. At an age when many begin to slow down, she embraced the opportunity to carve out a new identity and pursue her passion with purpose.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Beth Djalali’s journey as a widow and her ability to continue growing Style at a Certain Age is a powerful testament to her resilience and determination to thrive even in the face of profound loss.
In 2019, Beth experienced the heartbreaking loss of her husband, Siamak, who had been her partner in life for over 35 years. Siamak was not only a source of love and support but also played a key role behind the scenes of Style at a Certain Age. His encouragement and assistance were integral to the blog’s early success. Losing him was a devastating blow, both personally and professionally.
Despite her grief, Beth chose to honor Siamak’s memory by continuing the work they had built together. She embraced the difficult process of healing while remaining dedicated to the community she had cultivated.
Through her blog, she shared her journey of navigating life as a widow, offering an honest and heartfelt perspective that resonated deeply with her audience. Her openness about grief, resilience, and moving forward inspired countless women who were facing their own challenges.
