We recently connected with Cameron Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Cameron, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
When I was around 24, I decided to leave my home town in North Carolina to train at Second City in Chicago. My sister had a leather keychain made for me ( I still have it) that has my initials on one side and the coordinates of my hometown on the other so I could always find my way back.
Cameron, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well to start off I was fortunate to be raised in a very creative family. My mom wrote and put on plays for the comminuty that I was forced to be in. I’m kidding It was pretty awesome, After college I moved to to Chicago to study improv at Second city and Improv Olympics. I eventually was able to get an agent and kinda went from there. I now voice two characters in a video game franchise called Five Nights at Freddy’s. As an avid gamer myself I’m really proud or grateful to voice a video game character. It’s something I always wanted to do when I was a kid and I did it!
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was 24 when I moved to Chicago. I was just getting settled studying at Improv Olympics. I started doing stand-up around town and hanging out with like minded folks. I found a job and life seemed good. Then unexpectedly my dad passed away. When that happened I just didn’t feel like pursuing anything. I ended up moving back home to North Carolina. I stayed there for about a year trying to figure it out. My passion has always been to make people laugh but it was hard for me to find “it”. I remember my sister telling me how proud dad was of me getting out there and trying. So I dusted myself off and decided to keep going. I moved back to Chicago and landed an agent and have been here ever since.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal as cheesy as it sounds has always been to make people laugh or simply just smile. To think we all have the power to change someone’s moment for the better is like a super power I think we all have.
