We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Taylor Potter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Taylor below.
Taylor, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
It was when I landed home from a two month stint abroad when I decided my gap year to recover from burnout didn’t have to be a gap year—it could be a lifestyle. At the beginning of my gap year in 2024, I launched my own multimedia firm, TPott Productions, and signed my first client, a local nonprofit, PATH Foundation, which is committed to transforming Atlanta into one of the most trail-connected cities in America. That’s a mission I can get behind, especially as a traveler who yearns for the ease of European public transportation.
And so I dared to dream of how I could combine my business and my passion for travel with a renewed sense of purpose: to help young women experience the world.
Post-gap year and as a new-ish small multimedia business owner, I’m utilizing my expertise to capture beautiful photography and videography for the women I’m showing around the world and sharing informative content that inspires other young women to make the most of their lives.

Taylor, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I like to say I’m Taylor Potter—Taylor like Swift, Potter like Harry. My journey starting a multimedia company began during COVID when I couldn’t get an internship in the entertainment industry, which is what I was double majoring in at UGA. I decided to broaden my search and look for anything that could help me develop transferable skills for when the pandemic was over. That’s when I struck gold and secured two communications and public relations internships for GA non-profits, The Ray and PATH Foundation.
Through those internships and the years since, I gained a myriad of experiences from writing press releases, building social media strategies, and breaking down analytics to understand what content performs well and why as well as capturing original photography, videography, and drone footage, to editing and facilitating brand partnerships.
I’m proud of how my business is able to offer this variety of services, and it all stems from learning to be flexible in a challenging time. It’s what allows me to provide clients with creative and strategic solutions.
Moving into my second year of business as TPott Productions, I’m honing in on the types of clients I want to work with. I’m particularly interested in the travel sector and blending my love for it with my business services to create content to encourage more young women to see the world.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
TPott Productions emerged from those internships I did during the pandemic! What started as a means to gain work experience despite extenuating global circumstances and earn money to help pay for my senior year of undergrad, transformed into an ongoing freelance business that, after 3 1/2 years, I realized was a smart and flexible way to earn income utilizing skills and equipment I already possessed.
And so in January 2024, I officially registered TPott Productions, making my side hustle my main hustle. In its first year (while I was taking a gap year and traveling to 13 countries across 6 continents) I signed two clients that have provided steady income. With this under my belt, I’m taking my second year of business to expand and focus primarily on travel and tourism related clients.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I didn’t have a particular mission driving business when I started, but I found it along the way as I traveled extensively last year. As a young woman traveling the world, I relied heavily on social media creators who shared their journeys, tips, and tricks. This undoubtedly kept me safe, informed, and having fun all the while. As I niche-ify, my mission is centered on creating content and working with clients and partners to produce informative, engaging content to inspire more young women to travel.
