We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brenee’ Ellis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brenee’ , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
T he story behind my mission is rooted in advocacy and building meaningful relationships. I own a virtual assistant and event staffing agency, a senior support agency, and am also growing my personal brand as a content creator. At the heart of all these ventures is one common goal: helping people. Whether it’s advocating for clients through my services or creating resources for others to thrive, it’s all about using my voice to make a difference.
Growing up, I didn’t feel empowered to use my voice to protect myself, so I found peace in helping others and advocating on their behalf. Now, I’m passionate about showing others the power of relationships and networks. Whether you’re just starting out or already a billionaire, the opportunities you create through your connections matter.
My mission is more than just running businesses or selling products; it’s about building community, supporting others, and showing people how to tap into their own voices. That’s why everything I do—whether it’s assisting with tasks, staffing events, caring for seniors, or creating content—is aligned with making a real impact.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was raised by entrepreneurs, so I’ve always known that building something of my own would be a part of my journey. Today, I own two businesses: EZ Support Services and Solutions, a virtual assistant and event staffing agency, and GWEN’s Care (Geriatric Wellness and Emotional Needs Care), a senior support agency.
EZ Support Services and Solutions began during a time when I needed extra income. I was working long, hard hours in the hospital and wanted to take that first step into entrepreneurship. I took the things I was already doing for family and friends—organizing, planning, and assisting—and turned them into a business. What started as a way to earn additional income became a foundation for helping others run their businesses and events more smoothly.
On the other hand, GWEN’s Care is my passion. GWENs Care, which stands for Geriatric Wellness & Emotional Needs Care, is named in honor of my great-grandmother, Gwendolyn. Growing up, she lived in a nursing home in Washington, DC, and I would visit her almost every Sunday after church with my grandparents, as well as during every holiday she wasn’t spending with us. Those visits sparked my passion for caring for the elderly.
I loved spending time in the nursing home—talking to residents, feeding them, and helping my grandmother get dressed. Even at a young age, I felt fulfilled in that environment and knew this was my calling. By the time I reached middle school and needed community service hours, I eagerly volunteered in nursing homes, organizing activities and simply enjoying the company of the residents. Those early experiences shaped my purpose and inspired me to create a business where I could provide compassionate care for seniors in a way that truly honors them and their needs.
Even though I knew entrepreneurship was in my future, I also dreamed of becoming a nurse and working with the elderly. After earning my certified nursing assistant license and entering the field, I quickly realized that the only way to truly care for seniors the way I envisioned was to create my own business. Working under individuals who didn’t seem to prioritize the well-being of seniors was not an option for me. Now, through GWEN’s Care, I’m able to assist seniors in their most vulnerable moments, providing care in their homes, encouraging independence, and supporting their mental and emotional well-being.
What I’m most proud of is the personal growth I’ve achieved throughout my entrepreneurial journey. Success starts with self-development, and I’ve learned that making a difference requires being different—and sometimes uncomfortable. I’ve worked hard not only for my clients but also for myself, constantly developing perseverance and resilience.
One message and the most important message I want to share with fellow entrepreneurs, creatives, and supporters is this: without God, nothing is possible. And with God, you have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone to truly experience success. Entrepreneurship has taught me that your vision, paired with faith and hard work, can create a life of impact and purpose.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Becoming a mom was a pivotal moment in my life and career. While I didn’t pivot away from entrepreneurship, my focus and vision shifted significantly. I knew I needed to make more money while spending less time away from my family, which pushed me to double down on building my businesses and transitioning out of 9-to-5s and part-time gigs.
This meant rethinking how I worked and how I could scale. I started pivoting into digital marketing, VA mentorship, and taking on clients where I could earn income without having to physically be present. I focused on building a network of higher-paying clients, booking more event staffing opportunities for my assistants, and, most importantly, creating a reliable team that I could trust to keep everything running smoothly in my absence.
This shift wasn’t easy, but it taught me the power of intentionality and delegation. Being a mom showed me the importance of not just working hard but working smart.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
One of my favorite marketing and sales stories comes from an early experience with GWENs Care. At the time, I was implementing a new approach to my initial family visits and home inspections for potential senior clients. Typically, I tried to keep these visits brief out of respect for the families’ time. But I realized that rushing through these appointments wasn’t aligning with my values of providing personalized, thorough care. So I decided to take a risk and commit to a more detailed and intentional process, even if it meant asking families for more of their time.
On one of my first visits with this new approach, I arrived at the home and began my inspection. It quickly became clear that the family had somewhere to be, and for a moment, I felt anxiety creep in. I almost reverted to my old method of rushing through. But I stopped, gave myself a quick pep talk, and reminded myself of my commitment to this process.
I kindly let the family know I’d need about 40 more minutes to complete the visit properly and offered to reschedule if necessary. To my relief, they agreed to continue. I asked every question I had prepared, added new ones as the visit progressed, and conducted the most detailed inspection I’d ever done. By the end, the family could see how invested I was in creating a plan tailored to their loved one’s needs.
Before I left, the son looked me in the eye and said, “It doesn’t matter the cost—I want to move forward with your company. Based on the time you took and the questions you asked, I know you’ll provide the best care for my mom.”
At that time, GWENs Care was still very small, and I didn’t have many clients, so this was a major win for me. More importantly, it taught me a powerful lesson: staying true to my values and processes would attract the right clients. That moment solidified my belief that when you operate with integrity and align your work with your calling, God will send the clients who are meant for you. Stay committed to your vision—you never know what doors will open when you’re true to yourself and the mission you’ve been given.
