We recently connected with Tamir Lifshitz and have shared our conversation below.
Tamir, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I was born to a music family, my dad is a professional musician, my mom plays several instruments and my siblings play as well. I grew up surrounded by music from middle eastern music to rock and roll ,blues ,Jazz and classical music.
The connection to the guitar was instant. I started to play when I was 6 years old.At first my dad thought it’s not a good idea for such a young kid to play the guitar but when he was off the country touring , my mom bought me a guitar behind his back and when he came back from the tour I was already able to play so we all knew it’s a start of long love story between me and this beautiful instrument.
I started playing classical guitar until I was 11 my dad bought me an electric guitar. That was a major difference and so I started to play blues and rock guitar being inspired by musicians like:BB.King,Steivie Ray Vaughn,Eric Clapton,Eddie Van Helen and more…
In High school, slowly I started explore new sounds without giving it the label of Jazz yet my ear just looked for the abstract and the different.I started listening to the music of Charlie Parker,Bud Powell,Thelonious Monk as well as more modern musicians like Allan Holdsworth,Chick Korea,Kurt Rosenwinkel,Mark Turner and many others…
All this influences made me the musician I am today and opened my mind and ear to oceans of music. Nowadays I play everything from Classical guitar repertoire,Jazz Traditional music and my own compositions.

Tamir, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Tamir Lifshitz I’m a musician ,Guitarist ,composer based in NYC.
I was always passionate about art and the concept of self expression through none verbal mediums.the guitar got me in a very early age and became like an extension of my body. I developed my own style of playing combining methods from the classical and Jazz guitar world.
Through my career I won competitions, scholarships and awards and also got a chance to work with some of the greatest musicians in NY such as: Reggie Workman,Aaron Goldberg,Don Han,Vanisha Gould and many others … I also compose and write my own original music which is based on traditional Jazz with classical and modern music influences…

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I always felt things very strongly . I can walk in the street and miss a heart but because of an old couple, infant smile or just a human interaction with a stranger .For me, art and specifically the music is the most accurate way to express my feelings and recapture sensations.
I do art for the sake of doing but I do have a goal: I want to touch people’s heart and make them understand how important emotional intelligence is and how any human needs to connect his soft and sensitive sides in order to be a more complete person.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
In some way, I never feel alone. I always have the artistic medium to engage with and I feel my life fall less into patterns of Eat, Sleep, work and so on… I feel like being an artist helps me be present ,worship every day I’m alive in this mysterious world and live more colorful life.
