We recently connected with Toyasha Albert and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Toyasha , thanks for joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To become successful, it takes determination. Determination requires intention, and intention is a mental state to commit to a course of action. Intention is much more powerful when it comes from a place of contentment that arises from a sense of lack or need. Of course, none of this comes easy and one must work diligently and pursue the path required to accomplish goals and that is what it takes to be successful.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
S.E.L.F., Do You Believe?, is an empowerment program that offers workshops, trainings, field trips and community service activities to girls between 5 and 18. S.E.L.F. promotes self-discovery, self-awareness and self-worth through four distinct pillars – Self Determination, Empowerment, Love and Freedom.
Through these four pillars, S.E.L.F. provides opportunities for girls to be edified, encouraged and equipped; to acquire skills that ignite inspiration while building positive growth and development through individual power.
S.E.L.F. demonstrates the importance of empowerment by strengthening the quality of thought, sharpening
basic emotional learning skills and developing self-awareness.
Toyasha Albert is content creator and owner of S.E.L.F., Do You Believe?. She is convinced
that young people can maximize their potential if given the opportunity to do so. Her passion for service and youth led her to seek opportunities that inspire youth to take action, make changes within themselves and their communities.
Toyasha believes that there is a little girl that lives within each of us that craves love and attention. She “pops up” when we are unable to navigate unresolved past hurts or childhood trauma. When we are not acknowledged, heard, nurtured and do not have our needs addressed, a lack of safety and wellness is produced which breeds unworthiness and insecurity. Toyasha had a little girl that lived inside of her too. She nurtured her and attended to her needs, until one day, that little girl grew up!
Our programming leaves girls with confidence to crush their goals while trying new things to maximize their growth potential. If learning is essential for proper development, then empowerment gained through self-knowledge can help girls reach previously unachieved levels of confidence. Do You Believe?

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I was gifted the idea of S.E.L.F. Do You Believe 12 years ago and have continued to persevere since its inception. I continued to work a full-time job and focused on my business as a side hustle or hobby. I knew it was something, I wanted to embark on full-time but didn’t have the confidence to carry it through. When I realized my passion and purpose, I stopped at nothing to see it thru. I am still a work in progress, but I am not solely working on funding and managing my business full-time. It is not easy, and it requires many pep talks but here I am.
Have you ever had to pivot?
After my divorce, I realized that I had no one else to lean on and had to anchor myself. The decision to choose me was challenging enough because I had been married for 18 years. Life has a way of testing your resilience. Though I have not been divorced for a year, my life has changed drastically. There are times when I am not sure I can make it and then times when nothing, but death can keep me from it. I cannot teach girls to become their authentic self if I am not authentic and true to my being. I cannot teach girls to tap into their individual power if I am not aware of my own.
We walk through life and benefit from our experiences as life lessons and for that I am eternally grateful. No one ever said it would be easy but if you have determination, intention, discipline and heart you can accomplish anything!
