We recently connected with Savannah Jade Garcia and have shared our conversation below.
Savannah Jade , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I really hope that my story inspires more little girls from the Caribbean to dream BIG! I think back to my childhood days – the little girl from Trinidad & Tobago who was so unsure about how her life would pan out and I still have days when I am unsure now, but I can look back and see where my journey through the modelling industry has been a blessing. I still have a long way to go and a lot more work to do but being signed Ikon Management, the best Mother Agency in the USA and having the blessing of being represented by Wilhelmina Miami is testament to hope. Statistically, the likelihood that a dream of that magnitude would actualise for a girl who is from where I am from, was small but it happened.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started modelling in my late teens mainly at the behest of my Mother. Even though football was my first love she always encouraged me to explore different facets of my creativity and my individuality. I was signed to a few commercials agencies from my late adolescent years moving into my early 20s but then Covid hit.
Like many, Covid took a devastating toll on my mental health and it was really difficult to focus on anything other than surviving and figuring life out. I never imagined seeing a world so void of social interaction and so empty. That time period was a true test of my mental fortitude and I took a break from modelling until last year.
My re-introduction to the modelling game was initiated when I got reached out to by the biggest agency in the Caribbean , Hi Esteem Agency. They flew to Miami and connected me with Roc & Nebo from Ikon Management, who then got me signed to Wilhelmina Miami and the rest was history. I had to work very hard to get my conditioning back to peak form but that wasn’t difficult for me coming from an athletic background where I played football (soccer) most of my life.
When you are a model, the gym is apart of your job and you have to cultivate that discipline to stay in there, whether you feel like or not. The industry can be very demotivating and you have to treat it like a sport. Every game is a new game, that has to be won irrespective of how we feel. That’s the true mentality of a winner.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Yes! Stefan Amali aka manageeeee. I have the best manager in the world and the best management team at Ikon Management with Roc & Nebo.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Honestly , I still struggle with social media a lot because I can be a bit indecisive with what content to post, much to the dismay of my team. I think authenticity is still the most important thing on social media because in the end what else do you really have? It may sound cliche but when you look at the content that moves people, it isn’t always what’s polished and well planned out. Sometimes it’s the quirky selfie picture you were fighting up to post lol or that random beach pic. In the world of social media you just never know what will work, so just be yourself and do as you please. People are going to say whatever they want regardless.
