We were lucky to catch up with Kiana Garcia recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kiana, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I have worked on is a styled shoot that I planned alongside Melissa with Be Younique Events! It was an accomplishment for me in my career as a photographer! I had always wanted to host and plan a styled shoot and it finally came true, my vision came to life and it was amazing! I felt accomplished and proud of what we created and I felt like it was a step in a positive direction with my photography career!

Kiana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
It all started with a family friend in Montana. We went out to visit them as a family when I was 17. She is a photographer and I was intrigued by her camera and how she edited photos. That trip she gifted me one of her older cameras and started teaching me Lightroom. From that point on I have loved photography. I got my first canon and never looked back. i started taking photos of friends and family and got my first couple of weddings. My favorite part of photography is the emotions you can capture. Whether it be a sweet moment between a bride and groom, or the hug of a parent with their child, those kind of moments are my favorite. I have tried all different forms of portrait photography, graduations, weddings and engagements, newborn, maternity, family. I love them all of the but I have a special place in my heart for weddings and maternity photos. I love photographing weddings because I get to capture one of the most important days of a persons life and they chose me to be a part of it and document it for them. Maternity sessions I love too because they are so full of love and excitement waiting for the newest member of the family.
I did take a break from photography for a little bit when we wanted to start a family of our own and now we have our own little blessing. It was in my postpartum journey that my husband really encouraged me to get back into photography. He knew how much I loved it and how it made me happy. So he’s the one that really pushed me to pick up my camera again and I’m so glad I did because I have has some amazing opportunities. I have always wanted to do a styled photography shoot and I finally get to accomplish my goal. I also have gotten to photograph some beautiful weddings recently and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Bringing joy to my clients, and capturing special events in their lives! As well as bringing my creative touch and aesthetic to the photos! It gives me a creative space to express myself and at the same time make my client happy!
