We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nayely De leon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Nayely, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
Being born and raised in a traditional Hispanic household with parents wanting to strive for and provide the American dream, being a business owner wasn’t so much in the picture. I was able to break through and accomplish something huge for not only myself but for my family. What I really hope to leave behind as my legacy is the ability for our following generations to know that we can be entrepreneurs and build the most amazing life off of that.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Nayely Deleon and I am a charcuterie artist and caterer. I put together all kinds of luxury and artisan cheeses, meats, fruits, vegetables, condiments and sweets to create a celebration of delicious flavors to explore. I can do all this into a small box or a large table, the possibilities are endless! I got into this business because of the love that I had for charcuterie since a young age. I always needed to have a lunchable on hand, so what better way to create a living then doing what I love most!? It was in the midst of Covid when I decided to take a chance and begin this journey of providing cheeses and meats to a community that I live in that might not be too familiar with this kind of craft. I did it all alone, just me, and it is still a one person show. I am also able to offer services at an affordable cost. All of my work is completely customizable to adjust to your dietary restrictions and preferences.. If you have no clue what you are doing and are new to what I create, no worries! I can help you through every step of the way. I love what I do more than anything and I am extremely blessed to say that this is what I do.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I thought this was an extremely funny question because my beginnings were very humble and straight from scratch. I remember one day explaining my business idea to my mom and telling her that if I had to be in debt with her so be it, I needed her to invest in me! So yeah, my mother was my main supporter and main source of income for beginning my business. And you bet I paid all of my dues back!

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for me would have to be consistency! You have to be on it every single day. We are blessed and have the advantage of not having to be in an office all day or having to be out of home all day. The least I could do is be on my social medias constantly interacting as much as I can to grow my platforms. As Instagram is my main and really only source of advertisement I am extremely dedicated to it.
