We were lucky to catch up with Hedda Huang recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hedda, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on would definitely be writing my first song, Xmas with You. This song will always hold a special place in my heart. At the time, I was deeply immersed in learning classical piano, practicing for at least five hours a day. While the routine was necessary, it felt monotonous and left me questioning my direction in life.
Everything changed when one of my favorite singer-songwriters came to Shanghai for a performance. His entire album was self-written and composed, narrating his personal journey—being abandoned by a major record label, struggling with uncertainty in life, and navigating the complexities of love. I was moved to tears during the performance. He shared his stories and insights through his music, and the raw emotion and passion in his work deeply inspired me.
After that experience, I felt an overwhelming desire to write my own songs—not just to process my emotions, but to create something meaningful that could resonate with others. Songwriting became my personal diary, a way to document my thoughts and share love and understanding with the world. I’ve always believed that quiet, melancholic songs have a unique power to bring peace and healing, and that’s the type of music I wanted to create.
When I returned home, I began experimenting with chords, harmonies, and lyrics, teaching myself production, mixing, and vocal editing along the way. It was a steep learning curve, but after about a month of intense work, I released my first song, Xmas with You. It marked the start of my journey as a songwriter and remains one of the most meaningful accomplishments in my life.

Hedda, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! If this is your first time learning about me, I’m a healing music singer-songwriter dedicated to creating music that soothes the soul and connects with the heart. My songs are available on all major streaming platforms, and I also perform at live events where I share my music in a more personal and intimate setting.
Currently, I’m focused on blending healing instruments with vocal harmonies to craft a more spiritual and immersive experience in my performances. My goal is to create music that not only entertains but also provides a sense of peace, comfort, and emotional release for my listeners.
Music, for me, is more than just sound—it’s a form of therapy, a bridge between emotions and understanding. I believe that quiet, introspective songs have the power to heal and bring clarity to life’s challenges. That belief is at the core of my creative mission, and it’s something I strive to convey in every note and lyric I produce.
What sets my work apart is this emphasis on healing and connection. I want my listeners to feel seen, understood, and uplifted, whether they’re going through tough times or simply seeking a moment of stillness in their busy lives. My live performances are designed to be transformative experiences where sound and emotion intertwine to create a safe, uplifting space for all who attend.
I’m most proud of how my music has touched people’s lives. Hearing from listeners who’ve found comfort or inspiration in my work reminds me why I started this journey in the first place. For anyone curious about my brand or music, I want them to know that I’m here to create a sanctuary through sound—a place where they can connect with their emotions, rediscover their inner strength, and leave feeling a little lighter than when they came.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to sharing my passion and vision with you!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Consistency is key! As a musician without a massive following initially, I focused on posting three times a day across all platforms. This consistent effort significantly boosted my streaming numbers and helped so many more people discover my music. Social media has been an incredible tool for connecting with a broader audience and sharing my work.
For those just starting to build their social media presence, my advice is to stay consistent, experiment with different types of content to see what resonates with your audience, and engage genuinely with your followers. Social media is not just about posting—it’s about building a community and creating meaningful connections. It takes time and effort, but the results are absolutely worth it!

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
When I first started creating music, I had a foundation in music theory but knew nothing about songwriting, using Logic to produce music, recording, tuning vocals, or mixing tracks. The journey was incredibly daunting at the beginning, with so many technical skills to learn from scratch. On top of that, my parents were not particularly supportive of my passion, which made the process even more challenging.
When I finally managed to create a demo, I found myself unsure of where to turn for feedback or encouragement. I didn’t have a network of peers or mentors to share my work with, and the combination of technical hurdles and emotional isolation often left me feeling deeply discouraged. There were moments when the weight of it all made me question if I could keep going.
But every time I wrote a song and crafted a melody that resonated with my emotions, I experienced a sense of flow and fulfillment that reminded me why I loved music so much. That feeling of creating something beautiful from within kept me grounded and motivated, even during the hardest times.
Through sheer perseverance, I overcame those early challenges. I taught myself how to use production tools, improve my vocal recordings, and mix tracks to bring my vision to life. Over time, I released an EP, organized live performances, and formed a band with like-minded musicians who shared my love for music. Along this journey, I also found a supportive community of friends and collaborators who believed in my work and helped me grow as an artist.
Looking back, the obstacles I faced only made me stronger and more determined. They taught me resilience, self-reliance, and the value of staying true to my passion. It wasn’t an easy path, but it’s one I’m incredibly grateful for because it shaped me into the artist I am today.
