Hi Bin, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about growing your team – how did you recruit the first few people, what was the process like, how’d you go about training and if you were to start over today would you have done anything differently?
In the beginning, I was the only one responsible for everything. My first collaboration was with Luis Quijano, whom I met in 2016 on the second project I worked on as a producer. At that time, I wasn’t actively hiring; we naturally connected through working on the same project. There wasn’t a formal interview process—it was more about establishing a working relationship based on shared creative goals and mutual respect for each other’s talents.
Later, Luis transitioned into becoming a director, and I continued to collaborate with him as the producer on his projects. I’m thrilled that our creative partnership has earned recognition at various film festivals. This long-term collaboration has been one of the most valuable and rewarding parts of my career.
If I were to start again today, I might place greater emphasis on building a team from the outset rather than starting out alone. Having a reliable team can be incredibly helpful when navigating the challenges and complexities of filmmaking. However, I believe my journey—starting small and building relationships organically—has shaped my career in a unique and meaningful way. It has taught me the importance of trust, adaptability, and working with like-minded individuals.
Bin, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Bin He, a film producer, director, screenwriter, and cinematographer, originally from China and now based in Los Angeles. My journey in the film industry began at the Beijing Film Academy, where I studied screenwriting under the guidance of Mei Feng, a renowned filmmaker and award-winner at the Cannes Film Festival, Golden Horse Awards, and other prestigious platforms. Screenwriting was my first creative passion, and after graduating, I founded my first media company, Dream Team Media Inc. This company created one of China’s earliest professional social platforms for the film industry and provided screenwriting services to over 30 production companies.
After building a solid foundation in China, I moved to the United States to pursue my filmmaking dreams and earned my degree in Film and Television Production from California State University. My career in Los Angeles marked a new chapter, filled with learning, adapting, and deeply immersing myself in the art and technology of filmmaking.

I have self-taught many advanced techniques, developed a thorough understanding of equipment, and have the ability to perform tasks typically requiring entire teams—such as independently operating large drones that usually require three operators.
The integration of AI technology is another highlight of my work. From scriptwriting to post-production, AI tools allow me to quickly test creative ideas, predict audience reactions, and provide unique technical support for projects. This enables me to achieve high-quality results with fewer resources.
Additionally, my international background gives me a unique perspective. Having worked in both the Chinese and Hollywood film industries, I incorporate a blend of Eastern and Western storytelling styles into my work. My global network includes studio executives, filmmakers, and industry professionals, enabling me to bridge cultural gaps and create productions with worldwide appeal.

I am proud of the relationships I have built in the industry and the trust I have earned. I have directly or indirectly supported many companies and teams and contributed to projects that have won awards at major film festivals. These achievements validate my passion and dedication to my work.
Another accomplishment I hold dear is my ability to inspire and support other filmmakers. Whether helping them understand technical equipment, assisting with production logistics, or sharing insights, I have always aimed to uplift others and contribute to the creative community.
About My Brand & Work
Regarding my brand and work, I was honored to be invited as a judge at the Hollywood AI Festival(hollywoodaifest.com). This is a great recognition for me. Throughout my career, collaborating with Luis Quijano and Andrii Lantukh has been one of my most valuable experiences. The films we co-created, Feté and Badsheet, both won top awards at the film festival. These awards not only validate our creativity and effort but also fill me with great pride.
In our collaboration with Luis and Andrii, we explored innovative storytelling methods and technical approaches. The success of these works not only acknowledges our team’s hard work but also further fuels my passion for filmmaking. Our joint projects have always been driven by a commitment to high quality, innovation, and profound storytelling, which have been core principles in my pursuit within the film industry.
At the core of my work is a belief in the power of storytelling to inspire, move, and transform lives. I am grateful for a career where I can combine my technical expertise, creative vision, and passion for storytelling to create meaningful works that leave a lasting impact.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by a deeply rooted mission to tell stories that transcend boundaries, inspire change, and connect people across cultures. As a filmmaker, I believe that stories have the power to shape perspectives, evoke emotions, and bridge the gaps between diverse communities.
One of my key goals is to craft narratives that resonate on both personal and universal levels. Whether it’s through a feature film, a short story, or a visually stunning commercial, my aim is always to create something meaningful—something that stays with the audience long after the credits roll.
Another driving force is the desire to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible in filmmaking. I want to combine advanced filmmaking technologies, like drone cinematography and underwater photography, with compelling storytelling to create experiences that feel fresh and groundbreaking.
Lastly, I strive to empower other creators, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, by fostering collaboration and offering my expertise. Through this journey, my mission remains constant: to inspire, connect, and contribute to a global creative landscape where every story, no matter how small or grand, has the chance to be heard.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is the ability to bring an idea to life and see it resonate with others. There’s an indescribable joy in knowing that something I imagined, worked hard to create, and put out into the world has touched someone emotionally, sparked a thought, or inspired action. Whether it’s seeing an audience moved to tears, hearing how a story shifted someone’s perspective, or even just knowing that my work brought a moment of joy to someone’s day, those connections are incredibly fulfilling.
Another rewarding element is the process of creation itself. The journey from a blank page to a finished piece—whether it’s a film, a photograph, or a written script—is deeply satisfying. It’s a blend of exploration, problem-solving, and discovery that pushes me to grow both personally and professionally.
Finally, collaboration is another aspect I treasure. Working with talented, like-minded individuals to bring a vision to life is an incredible experience. Each project feels like a shared dream, and the bonds formed during those creative endeavors are often as valuable as the final product.
