Geino, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Is there a heartwarming story from your career that you look back on?
Bootstrapping this tea business, Golden Lung Tea from the ground up, there are many exhilarating stories that come to mind. I have two in particular that are noteworthy. As a whole the people that have helped us along the way to make Golden Lung Tea relevant in celebrating its continued lifespan definitely hit home!! Secondly, the lives the tea has touched. Phone calls and messages from around the world expressing how Golden Lung Tea has helped them. Both of these are heartwarming tales that are the sole reason, “The Biggest Little Tea Company in the World”, Golden Lung Tea is still here.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Golden Lung Tea is currently fulfilling a dream to become the biggest little tea company in the world. We use an ancient traditional method in tea preparation which is the powdered form of enjoying tea drinking. This type of tea enjoyment dates back to the 10th century and does not require a tea ball, strainer or bag. You simply add the tea to your cup and pour hot water over it. It can be appreciated in various ways such as a tumbler or favorite mug. The tea plants are powdered and blended together in fine artisanal infusions. One half teaspoon of tea is all you will need. We make this tea because we love it! The plants are sacred and delicious. The company is now going almost 8 years strong with its first tea “Smokers Tea & Lung Powder.” Since its creation, there are now 15 different varieties. Each of them Golden Lung Tea, each of them various flavors. A lot of creative thought and research is contributed to each one of the teas. Similar to matcha, ninety percent of the tea will dissolve in your cup. The rest you can swish and swig to enjoy all of the tea in your cup. We have had the pleasure of attending many pop-up markets in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington. We hope to one day share the same experiences with locals in countries like Canada, Mexico, France, China, Denmark, Greece & Australia where the tea currently has a very small presence.
We are humbled by the sustainability and our community that has been here to support this powdered tea project along the way! This year in 2025 we are also proud supporters of the Portland Pickles Baseball Team and will be participating in backing their games.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Consistently showing up when you say you will. Communication and follow through are crucial. Product consistency for consumption. Resilient participation in live sampling to teach others how to enjoy this tea. Support from online reviews and honest tea loving folks that wanted to see us succeed.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If we could go back we wouldn’t change a thing. Every step we took to get where we are today as a company is valuable. Each moment played a part. Even some of the original ideas for packaging that shifted over time helped us to confirm the best possible way to contain, share and deliver our tea.
