We were lucky to catch up with Sarah Zambrano recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
I realized that in order to stand out as a creator, I would have to make engaging content. Reels seem to get more views on social media platforms. I studied the ones that I enjoyed the most and realized that the ones that caught my eye incorporated a transition or visual effect. I started watching tutorials, downloaded editing apps, did endless experimenting, and now I figured out my “secret sauce” for mastering short form reels.
An obstacle that always stands in the way for me is overthinking. To speed up the process, I would have told myself to keep it simple and just focus on one aspect of the reel and not go overboard.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I consider myself primarily a Calendarist. This is a term I came up with. I study the days of the calendar and find what excites me most, then I create content around it. I do this in order to keep my content focused and relevant. Let’s say for January, I am focusing on topics like Lunar New Year, movie releases, and upcoming Orlando attraction openings. I’ve been able to express my appreciation for these trendy themes through my love of costume making and dancing. A lot of people who watch my content do it to stay up to date while maybe learning a new photo or video editing technique.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is showing people how to be fulfilled with what you already have and maximize it. For example, a lot of people think my closet is full of millions of outfits but it’s really a regular closet. I just know how to repurpose one dress to make it look like 20 outfits so I can be ready to film various pieces of content. All you need in heart, soul, imagination, and you can do anything.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
For the longest time, I wanted to be a professional dancer and the doors to that opportunity just wouldn’t open. I decided to pivot from that dream and focus on getting my MBA to pursue a career in business. I continued dancing on the side, until one day I was given an opportunity by social media platforms to become a creator. I showcased my love of dancing and immediately became immersed with creating. Instead of dancing for someone else to earn a paycheck, I dance for myself and have creative freedom to put on my own show for my audience that I have built.
