Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chris Freezie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Chris, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I look at clothes like art, the shirt, sweater or pants is my canvas, and I feel obligated to add meaning to everything I create. As of recent, one of my most favorite designs we did was the renaissance collection (shorts and sandals). As a designer, moments in history is one of my biggest motivators for creating. In this example, the renaissance era is that moment in time. The renaissance and baroque art periods created so many inspirational lanes for myself, as I feel it is the pinnacle of creativity. I was glad when the idea was discussed, and even more excited to see the art being created from scratch. What added to the special moment was the response we received from our supporters. In an era where creativity is often substituted, it always feels good receiving positive feedback for being creative.

Chris, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Chris, I am the owner of high fashion brand Burghal. I have been designing clothing since high school; then transferring to the fashion school FIDM, in downtown Los Angeles. I ultimately ended up with a psychology degree, focusing on consumer behavior. Anytime we design at Burghal, we want each client to have a unique experience; from purchasing unique quality pieces to the presentation of opening the package. The quality of Burghal is second to none, sourcing the best fabrics worldwide, and its only a matter of time before the world finds out.
Burghal is more than a fashion brand, it is a story of hope. For instance, our subdivision of the brand, Voices by Burghal, focuses on interviewing creatives from all backgrounds; asking them to voice some conquest and struggles, so others can draw inspiration. We aim to be the main platform creatives come when they need inspiration (or clothing). Letting others know that they can make it even without alot of support. Inspiring others to start to design, or inspiring others with positive words really brings joy in my heart.
At times I can get caught up in the perfectionist end goal of accomplishing all the dreams i have set, but hearing im inspiring others now reminds me the journey is just as important as the destination. I have friends, family members, and passing individuals who have been inspired by what I do. Some event want to do fashion. As a designer, my main goal is to inspire, and knowing im doing that now its kind of surreal.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I am a very goal driven person, and my vision for my brand is broad, with potential of reaching all 4 corners of the globe. Becoming a top fashion brand in the world, seeing my brand in the top fashion shows, all while inspiring is continuing me to go. I also have a good handful of people who truly believe in what I do. Some are still around, some have passed along. Knowing theyve seen something special in me helps me continue to do what I do, even during the “difficult’ times

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Early on in my journey, we wasted alot of money on trying manufactures, and hoping they would be as authentic as they said. Unfortunately many werent authentic, resulting in wasting thousands of dollars on “trial and error.” Thankfully, it is alot different now and I am able to create freely with security, but this knowledge would have been nice some years ago
