We recently connected with Doreatha Walker and have shared our conversation below.
Doreatha, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents really instilled in me a work ethic that is unreal. They taught me to finish what I start, regardless of how difficult the task may be. They also showed me what hard work entails and that has made me the person I am today. They always said life is not easy, but it is worth it. I believe that and strive for greatness at Mocha’s Dream Closet each and everyday. We believe that each one teaches one and each one reaches one. You can not make it in entrepreneurship without grit. That’s why we inspire, motivate and equip our employees to win, daily.

Doreatha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
It’s so funny how I became the owner of Mocha’s Dream Closet. My daughter, Tyrah Walker and I always talked about business ownership, and we have always had a passion for beautiful clothes, makeup and accessories so she began the business and handed the baton to me. I took off running without looking back and we are winning. Each and everyday, I work towards our craft to ensure, we have a brand/closet that everyone will love. Some days are tedious, but it is worth it.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I would love to tell all of you how I met my business partner. She is my Boss Babe, daughter, Tyrah Walker. Her work ethic mirrors mine and it is refreshing to see. She works so hard in the business and each and everyday someone loves the brand. All we can say is it is a match made in heaven with Mocha’s Dream Closet and Mocha P Beauty. We are winning and helping others to win.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
I remember one day I wanted to market a different product, cell phones cases. I was so excited about these beautiful cases with customers pictures on them; however, they did not sell like we thought they would, so we pruned those and kept it moving. It was truly a lesson learned. We lost money, but gained in the end with all of our other gorgeous product at Mocha’s Dream Closet, which is a Dreamer’s Delight to shop in.
