We were lucky to catch up with Caitlin Anderson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Caitlin thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My mission is to capture intimate moments through a cinematic, vintage-inspired lens that is deeply rooted in a personal belief: that life’s most meaningful memories are often the quiet, fleeting ones. I am not just a photographer; I am a storyteller who see’s beauty in the subtle interactions, the small gestures, and the unspoken emotions that define the essence of a moment. For me, photography has always been a way to preserve the intangible- moments that, without careful attention, would slip away unnoticed.
Through my vintage, nostalgic style, I aim to recreate the feeling of looking back at a memory and experiencing it again with the same warmth and emotion. This approach resonates with me because I believe in the power of memories—they connect us to the past, to our loved ones, and to ourselves. The cinematic flair I bring to each shot serves to elevate these moments, turning them into timeless art that speaks not just to what was, but to what it meant. This mission is personal because every photo is more than just an image—it’s a way to preserve the stories and emotions that make life unforgettable and I love capturing these special moments for my clients.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve had an interest in photography since I was a child. Growing up, I would always bring a small camera along on family vacations to stunning places like Yosemite, and I was deeply inspired by landscape photographers such as Ansel Adams. Nature has always been my sanctuary, and hiking and exploring the outdoors allowed me to document my adventures in a way that felt both personal and meaningful. As I grew older, my love for photography evolved, and I began capturing portraits and family gatherings, eventually leading me to photograph my first wedding.
It was through wedding and elopement photography that I truly discovered my passion. There’s something uniquely special about documenting one of the most important days in a couple’s life, and I quickly found that my heart lies in photographing destination weddings that beautifully blend nature with romance. I’m continually moved by the privilege of capturing the moments that will retell the story of that day for years to come.
What I love most about wedding photography is how involved I get in the day. I’m often more than just a photographer—I’m there to help in any way I can, whether it’s signing as a witness, zipping up a bride’s dress, or helping the groom rehearse his vows. These moments of connection make the experience incredibly rewarding, and it’s my way of ensuring that my clients feel taken care of in every aspect of their day. I don’t just offer photographs; I’m a friend, a planner, an organizer, and a visionary who is there to make sure their special day unfolds seamlessly. Being a part of these love stories, and capturing them in an authentic and real way, is truly an honor.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I consider myself incredibly lucky to have my husband as my business partner. When we first met, I was already running my photography business, but it didn’t take long for us to realize how our passions could complement one another. My husband owns a small coffee business, Homegrown Coffee Co., where he offers a coffee cart serving handcrafted beverages for weddings, small gatherings, and corporate events. Over time, we’ve blended our talents to offer a unique service to our clients, allowing couples to book both his coffee cart and my photography for their weddings or special events.
Together, we create experiences that elevate any occasion, bringing a personal touch and a lot of heart to everything we do. We both feel incredibly passionate about our work, and it’s such a joy to combine our strengths in this way. Supporting each other in our respective crafts and growing together in our business is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We’re not just partners in business; we’re partners in life, and that connection makes our work even more meaningful.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the moment when a vision transforms into something tangible, something that evokes emotion and connects deeply with others. As a creative, I find immense fulfillment in watching the idea I’ve imagined come to life through my lens, whether it’s a photograph, a scene, or a moment frozen in time. But even more rewarding is witnessing the joy and emotion my work brings to my clients. Seeing their reactions when they experience the finished piece—whether it’s a wedding photo, a family portrait, or a captured moment of love—reminds me why I do this. It’s a profound feeling to know that my art has not only captured a fleeting moment but has also become a cherished memory, something that will bring them joy for years to come. That sense of connection, of knowing my work has had such a meaningful impact on someone’s life, is the most rewarding part of being an artist.
