We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brittany Good a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Brittany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Yes, I absolutely take vacations! I believe taking time off is essential, not just for personal well-being but also for bringing fresh energy and creativity back into my business. For me, taking a vacation is a bit simpler because much of my work can be managed directly from my phone. However, when I do take a vacation, I prioritize stepping back and minimizing work as much as possible to truly recharge!
The key to making this happen is planning ahead. I schedule all content for myself and my clients well in advance, ensuring that their social media platforms stay active and consistent while I’m away. Once everything is prepared, my main focus during vacation is light engagement—connecting with client communities by responding to comments and messages while lounging by the pool or enjoying a quiet moment. This balance allows me to stay present for my clients without feeling overwhelmed while also enjoying myself and my vacation.
For entrepreneurs who feel like they can’t step away, my biggest advice is to trust your systems and embrace automation where possible. Use tools to schedule content, delegate tasks, or streamline processes so your business can run smoothly in your absence. Taking a break doesn’t mean you’re neglecting your work…it means you’re investing in your own well-being, which ultimately benefits your business. Even a short vacation can do wonders for your mindset and productivity!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Socially Good became an LLC in 2023. I work primarily with small, local businesses to help them elevate their online presence and connect authentically with their communities. My business is all about simplifying social media for business owners who are often overwhelmed by the time, strategy, and creativity it takes to maintain a strong social media presence.
I first got into social media back in 2019 where I started off as an influencer. I worked with hundreds of businesses and brands throughout that time in my life, but I knew that I wanted more. When I noticed how much potential there was for small businesses to grow through these platforms—but many business owners didn’t have the time or know how to make it happen. As a creative person with a passion for helping others succeed, I knew I could fill that gap. Over the years, I’ve honed my craft to not just manage social media accounts but to strategize, create, and implement plans that deliver real results!
I provide a range of social media services, including content creation, strategy development, engagement, analytic tracking, profile optimization, and even small business events! My services and my packages are highly tailored—I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach for social media or small businesses. Every business I work with is unique, so I take the time to understand their goals, voice, and audience to create content and strategies that truly resonate with that.
For example, I handle everything from shooting photos and videos to writing captions, researching hashtags, and analyzing trends so my clients can focus on what they do best—running their businesses. I also provide monthly strategy meetings, insight reports, and complete a competitor analysis to ensure we’re always on track and adapting to what works best.
The biggest problem I solve for my clients is taking the stress out of social media. Many business owners wear so many hats they’re juggling operations, customer service, inventory, and more. Social media often becomes a low priority or something that feels like an afterthought, which leads to inconsistent posting or content that doesn’t reflect their brand. However, not only take social media off their plate but also ensure it’s working as a powerful tool for growth. I help them build their audience, engage their community, and showcase their business in a way that drives results and reflects their brand and voice.
What sets me apart is the personal connection I bring to my work. I don’t just see my clients as businesses—I see them as people with dreams, challenges, and stories to tell just like myself. I go the extra mile to build relationships with my clients, ensuring that I fully understand their goals and deliver work that reflects their vision.
I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built with my clients and the impact I’ve been able to make on their businesses. Seeing a client’s social media presence grow and knowing that I’ve played a part in helping them reach new customers or achieve a big goal is incredibly rewarding to me! I’m also proud of the trust my clients place in me—it’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. The fact that they know I have their best interests at heart and am willing to go above and beyond for them means so much!
Social media can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. I’m here to take the guesswork out of the process and show businesses how powerful social media can be when it’s done strategically and authentically.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes, my side hustle absolutely turned into my full-time business! It all started with my time as a social media influencer, which I did part-time for extra “fun money”. This is where I developed skills in engagement strategies, photo editing and styling, video editing, and more. I became familiar with what works on social media and how to build connections with an audience.
My first experience managing social media for a business was with a Herbalife shake shop, where I helped with content and management. Unfortunately, that partnership was short-lived due to Covid. However, it planted the seed for what would come next!
At the very start of 2021, I moved into the home I live in now and, by chance, became neighbors with a business I believe is the heart of our community. They were in need of a social media manager, and it felt like the perfect opportunity for both of us. I was able to step in, help them grow their online presence, and see the immediate impact social media could have on their success. It was like we fell into each other’s laps at just the right time.
From there, word of mouth became a driving force behind my business. One client would share their experience, and suddenly, I was getting inquiries from other local businesses. It’s been amazing to see how my passion for social media has turned into a full-time career and business where I can help other small businesses thrive! Like pinch me, is this real life?!
Some of the key milestones for me have been seeing the tangible results my clients achieve, such as increased engagement, better connections with their audience, and stronger brand visibility. Each client’s success feels like a personal win for me, and I’m so grateful for how this side hustle has grown into something that allows me to do what I love full-time.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn is that not everyone is going to immediately trust the process of hiring a social media manager—or trust me, for that matter. When I started this business, I assumed that clients would simply hand over their social media accounts with full confidence that I knew what I was doing. But I quickly realized that social media is like a small business owner’s “baby”. For some it’s something they’ve nurtured and poured their heart into. Letting go of control, even to someone experienced, can feel daunting.
What I’ve learned is that trust is built over time. It starts with truly listening to my clients, understanding their voice, and showing them that their customer experience is at the heart of what I do. My goal is to show them that I’m not just managing their social media; I’m building meaningful connections behind the scenes that represent their business authentically. I feel their success is also my success.
Over time, as my clients see the value of the strategies I implement and the results I deliver, the trust grows naturally. It’s a reminder to me that relationships take time and that earning trust is just as important as the work itself. Letting go can be hard for clients, but I’ve found that when they do, it allows me to truly help their business spread its wings and thrive.
