We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danny Stanley. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danny below.
Danny, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
I have learned that we should not have fear when we are faced with taking leaps in life, but to fear the consequences of not doing so. It’s best to take the leap (the risk) and trust that the net will appear…because it does!
In 2020, during covid lock down, a lot of us were sent home to work. During that time I was one of the many sent to work from home and I was working a corporate job that I absolutely hated. As I was at my desk typing away on an insurance claim, my artist desk with all of my half finished work was across the room calling out to me. As I stared across the room peering at the desk I truly wanted to be working at, but noticing the one I felt chained to against my will, I broke down crying.
I had just about had it with the life I had unconsciously built. All based on societal exceptions and advice from family. In that moment, I cried out to a higher power to help free me from the self created prison I was in. I needed to be freed from the chains of corporate slavery. I asked for strength, the will, and the knowledge to become a full time artist, which is my true passion.
Within the next few months, I was selling my car, I had quit my job, took all of my savings, and moved to Washington to pursue art full time. Soon after, my brand Ebony Luc Art came to be! That was one of the many bodacious risks I had taken in my life.

Danny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Danny Stanley, the creator of Ebony Luce Art which creates art and events that inspires society back into a harmonious state of being. “Ebony” referring to darkness, and “luce” referring to light gives us the concept of dark and light- duality. We can’t have one without the other. There is left and right, right brain left brain, hot and cold, so on and so forth. We are dualistic beings. I’ve noticed in society, we tend to veer off into one polarity over another. When we aren’t balanced, this is when conflict and chaos is present. Bringing both polarities back together brings us back into balance- HARMONY. Ebony Luce Art was created in 2020 to remind us to stay balanced in the flow of life. True peace is witnessed when we can release our dualistic programming long enough to notice how everything is actually flowing as one harmonic rhythm. Ebony Luce Art creates symbolic concepts which are inspired by nature, human psychology, and relatable human experiences. Ebony Luc Art was created during a period of enlightenment and awakening for the artist. The more we are unified within, the more we are able to reflect that out into the external world. We are all ONE.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is getting to witness the personal experience my viewers have with my art. Hearing about how the art has impacted them on a personal level, and what their subjective interpretation is of what they are seeing really lights me up. It also gives me the opportunity to connect with the audience and hear about their life experiences which shapes how they view my art.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
From my point of view, I feel society can help artists, and creatives in two simple ways. One of those ways is by simply sharing in any way they can if something really moves them that an artist created rather that be a simple share online or even a larger publication. The second but most significant way society can help artist is by dropping the belief and narrative that artistry isn’t an important career field. Imagine how the world would look if there were no artist… Imagin how that would feel. Bland! Artists bring the life, history, and culture into the world. Periods in time get to live on because of artists. That cafe down the block is livelier because of an artist. That business became more appealing to consumers because of an artist. The world would not vibrate the same without us.
