We recently connected with Michael Rodriguez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name “Mud Media” to symbolize not only myself, but for everyone I represent and work for. Myself and my collective all worked hard for our careers from the very bottom, laying brick-by-brick starting “from the mud” to get to where we are now. It strikes independence to anyone who hears about Mud Media because when they learn the meaning behind the name, they give their respect for the business and the artists who’s organic growth we promote.

Michael, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m just another hardworking person who wants to support and help everyone in need to be honest. I started Mud Media because social media has taken control of career growth for a lot of professions. Once I fully grasped that fact, I went to college to get my degree in Marketing and my curiosity of the industry grew even more. It all clicked when two of my closest friends wanted to start making music and become artists so we all got together, made a plan on how we were going to achieve our objectives, and thus Mud Media was born. I’m an overall skilled social media marketer, with service options of: branding, promotion, advertising, content creation, and more. I am stricly upfront and transparent with everyone I’ve worked for in the past and who I currently work for. I dont sell dreams and fantasies by telling people who want to spend their hard earned money that I can get them ten thousand followers in a day. The thing I’m most proud of is the fact that I even created Mud Media in the first place. It gives up and coming artists a place where they feel comfortable sharing their work without judgment. They expect the same out of me and it’s respectable. Not only that, I did this for my two friends who want more for themselves. Representing them and helping them grow their craft is why I’m bere, to support and help everyone I can.

Any advice for managing a team?
Consistently put your best self forward. You have to remember that the main objective is that everyone is working towards the same goal. Everyone has their own ambitions, ideas, opinions, so find a way to let others speak those ideas into existence because you never know who has something that you can benefit from for the business. Stay connected with everyone and always check up on your people. Overall, be the leader that you want/need to be, not what everyone expects you to be. That allows you to be the real you and lead your team to success.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my audience organically. I presented my work to the people I’ve met over the years, and they presented it to their friends/family. I’m still consistent in the organic route because that is the audience that’s going to stick around for the long haul. My advice to those who are pursuing social media presence amd growth, go to events. Meet new people and build a reputation with them. Even though they may not be in the same industry as you, their audience may be attracted to your work. Continuously building your reputation oraganically takes time, but the results you will obtain are like none other.
