Alright, Destiny thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?

The mission behind the brand is being able to give them confidence and comfortability. I want my customers to know and understand that in a world heavily based on social media that it’s okay to be natural! You don’t need heavy make up and filters healthy skin and hair is equally beautiful! I want my customers to be able to walk in a room with a freshly clean face and have the same confidence as someone in the room with a full face of make up.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

Hello! I’m Destiny Miller a 23 year old full time mom and owner of Kisses By M Cosmetics. I became a business owner a year after having my daughter in 2017. After having birth I immediately began to work a warehouse job to provide for my child. Working 10-12 hour shifts 5 days weekly I noticed that I was missing those important milestones in her life and quickly realized this wasn’t something I wanted to continue to do. In 2018 I began formulating and selling my own lipgloss while being a freelance make up artist. This worked well for a while, but there wasn’t much room for growth because I had no knowledge on business. Fast forward to December 2020. I researched religiously and figured out that skin care was something I was more passionate about.

We currently offer a range of products including soaps, yoni products, body wash, body butter, body scrubs, body oils, facial moisturizers and more. We’re providing a relief for problems a lot of us deal with whether it’s acne, hyperpigmentation, sensitive skin; you name it! Our Yoni line provides a range of products to help with feminine issues it doesn’t matter if it’s period symptoms or low libido. We’ve got something to help you!

I’m proud of my business because despite the people that didn’t believe in my brand… despite all the people that told me no, my business still flourished and prevailed! Honestly my biggest accomplishment to date is my growth. I literally scaled my business so far on my own. To be able to get over 1500 orders in your first year of business is not so common anymore. I’ve reached and helped over 1000 people gain their confidence back and I couldn’t be more happy.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I think being transparent help me build my reputation within my market. I’m open with my journey in business. I don’t hold back. I share my wins, my losses and a lot of how the products are actually made. I educate more than I sell products. By doing this I’m able to build relationships with my customers and they trust me so it converts to sells. Not just this, I’m open with customers and potential customers so they feel open to leaving reviews without holding anything back.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?

I started this business with less than about $200 believe it or not. I was so fascinated after all my research that I was dying to start. I had a $200 limit on quadpay and saw that Amazon had the products I needed to start and just went from there.
