We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sage Wolf a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sage, appreciate you joining us today. The first dollar you earn is always exciting – it’s like the start of a new chapter and so we’d love to hear about the first time you sold or generated revenue from your creative work?
After some time of paying for beats and studio time me and A’yo TD together decided to start investing into our own home studio so we could record at any time. I had already started making music videos at this point but had only gotten a few small $300 or less gigs so we came up with the idea to create a bundle deal where an artist could get a beat studio time and a music video together for $1000. As soon as I posted the idea on my Instagram story I immediately had lots of interest and one Colorado artist Qsuicide that same day sent the full thousand dollar deposit before we had even bought any studio equipment so that basically sealed the deal and the rest became history. He also did the very first ever “In The Box” Freestyle

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
At 21 I created the brand Winners Live Forever with the goal of creating every part of the musical experience from the very ground up completely independent and showing the new generation that it’s possible to be wildly successful without signing away your soul to a record label. We provide a space for artists where they can come and get beats, studio time, social media promo & a professional music video.
In partnership with some of the most talented artists in the world we work to create pieces of art that stand the test of time and “Live Forever”
They say you die twice. Once when you stop breathing and the second, a bit later on, when somebody mentions your name for the very last time. So to be remembered is to live forever
The close personal relationships we develop with artists sets us apart from other media companies and the fans are able to see the pure intentions behind the art
My biggest inspirations come from Cole Bennett, Kanye West, Tyler The Creator, Juice WRLD, A$AP YAMS & NoahSoCold
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When I first moved to California to pursue my business Chico was one of the only places I could afford with the money I had saved so I got a day job as a breakfast cook at a hotel where I would wake up at 4am so I could have time in the nights for recording clients. After meeting Gritty Lex I would drive 4 hours to Sacramento to shoot her music videos and then drive back at 3am just to get back to the shift an hour late and get bitched out by my boss and then get right off the shift and repeat the cycle. But it all ended up paying off in the end and I’m so glad I endured through the many nights with no sleep.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Most jobs your worth is directly related to how much money you earn. Where in art some of the most profoundly creative people make fractions of what some of the least creative people make so those making the most money aren’t always the best in this industry which is hard for non creative people to understand. Art is also such a subjective experience that there’s no one true metric of measuring greatness unlike most other fields
