We were lucky to catch up with Basil Edwards recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Basil, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I want my legacy to be one of authentic storytelling through photography and videography. I hope my work creates lasting impressions in people’s minds, images and moments that linger long after they’ve seen them. I want my art to inspire deeper thinking and evoke a range of emotions. Whether it’s joy, sadness, or introspection, I want my photos and videos to connect with people on a personal level.
I strive to capture people as they truly are, the raw, unfiltered moments that show their beauty, strength, and even their vulnerabilities. I believe there is power in showing both the beautiful and the challenging aspects of life. By doing so, I hope to remind others of the humanity we all share, and perhaps even help them see the world, and themselves, through a different lens.
When people think of me after I’m gone, I hope they’ll say my work made them feel something real. That it inspired them to look at life a little closer, to appreciate its complexities, and to embrace its imperfections. I want to be remembered as someone who used creativity to tell honest, impactful stories that left a mark on those who experienced them.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Basil. I’m a photographer and videographer based in Charlotte, NC, specializing in lifestyle/portrait photography, car photography, music video production, and storytelling through visuals. What started as a passion for capturing everyday moments has evolved into a career focused on creating authentic, impactful content.
I help clients bring their visions to life by showcasing their brands, music, or stories with raw authenticity and attention to detail. My work stands out because it captures the beauty and imperfections of life, evoking emotion and inspiring thought.
I’m most proud of delivering projects that not only meet but exceed my clients’ expectations. My brand is built on creativity, connection, and a commitment to making work that resonates. Whether you need striking visuals or bold storytelling, I’m here to help bring your ideas to life.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Social Media.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media by consistently sharing high-quality content and giving people a glimpse into my creative process and the stories behind my work. Engaging with my followers, collaborating with others, and staying true to my authentic style helped me connect on a deeper level. My advice for beginners is to focus on authenticity, stay consistent, and engage with your audience to build genuine connections over time.
