We were lucky to catch up with Nairemy Gch recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nairemy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
It all began in 2015 when lace bralettes became an essential accessory for any fashion enthusiast. They were elegant, feminine, and added a special touch to any outfit. However, in my city, Maracaibo, Venezuela, finding one was nearly impossible. Local stores didn’t offer anything similar, and online options weren’t feasible.
One day, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I searched through my old clothes and found some fabrics I could repurpose. With them, I crafted my first bralette. I did it with many doubts, unsure if it would actually work or if it would fit me well. It was an experiment, a way to test if I could create something I had long desired.
When I finished, I felt quite proud. Although it was simple and made from recycled fabric, it had a special charm. I decided to wear it for a night out with my friends, pairing it with a casual outfit. I didn’t expect much, but what happened that night surprised me.
My friends were thrilled with my bralette. They showered me with compliments, asking where I had gotten it. At first, I was embarrassed to admit that I had made it myself.
Nairemy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
“I am Nairemy González, a 28-year-old Journalism graduate. Currently, I apply my professional skills in supporting a new Spanish-language channel in Nashville, where I blend my passion for communication and cultural connection.
My journey into fashion design, particularly lingerie, began at a young age, driven by an innate creativity. Growing up, I watched my maternal grandmother sew and repair clothing for people in our community, and from childhood, I too found joy in creating and designing clothes for my dolls. This foundation in creativity eventually led me to explore and thrive in the intimate apparel industry.
As the years passed and my body naturally evolved, I began to feel a growing need for lingerie that was both beautiful and comfortable. I wanted garments that would make me feel loved and valued, regardless of the changes my body experienced. Through research, I discovered that this was not just a personal need but a shared experience among many women—those whose bodies go through significant changes or who lead fast-paced, demanding lives. These women deserve lingerie that offers both comfort and elegance.
This insight became the cornerstone of my mission: to create intimate apparel that not only fits the body but also uplifts the spirit. Lingerie that makes every woman feel beautiful, sensual, and empowered, regardless of her body’s journey. My path has always been about more than design—it’s about nurturing self-esteem, embracing comfort, and delivering the elegance that every woman deserves. Through this, we have witnessed a profound increase in women’s confidence, reinforcing our dedication to this impactful mission.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
What truly helped me build my audience was my authentic personality. I have always been a spontaneous and open person with my life, which allowed me to connect genuinely with others. However, the real shift happened when I started sharing the reality of my personal experience, especially the ups and downs I faced with fluctuating weight over the years. That’s when I began to present myself in lingerie in an artistic way, taking on the role of model for my own brand, and showing the reality of my body as it is.
By doing this, many more people began to identify with me because they understood that if I could wear lingerie and feel confident and beautiful with a body that doesn’t fit traditional standards of perfection, they could do the same. My goal has always been much more than selling lingerie; what I truly offer is emotion, self-esteem, and an experience of confidence. My message is clear: beauty is not about perfection, but about accepting ourselves as we are, and that is the true power of lingerie. Accepting ourselves doesn’t mean settling, but rather understanding that we can always create a better version of ourselves, always from a place of self-love and respect for our bodies.
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
Yes, I manufacture my own products. When I started Billionaire Lingerie, my first creation was a lace bralette that I made for myself. At first, I didn’t know much about lingerie manufacturing, so I used recycled fabric and it was a trial-and-error process. As I moved forward, I realized I needed to find a reliable supplier who shared my vision and understood the importance of quality and design.
Currently, the manufacturing process is carried out collaboratively with my supplier. They create the base of the garment, which is the most labor-intensive part, and then I add my personal touch. I focus on the aesthetic details, design changes, and the art of the garment, ensuring each piece reflects the vision of my brand.
This approach has allowed me to combine the technical expertise of the supplier with my creativity, ensuring that each garment not only has the right quality and structure but also the personality and details I want to convey to the women who wear it. It’s a formula that has worked really well for me.
