We recently connected with Aekta Parikh and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aekta, thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I grew up in a family where community service and hard work were the way to live and work, this motivated me to start my own clinic to work towards my own goals of helping the community and using the diverse skills and experience I have. I have worked in hospital/outpatient settings for big corporations, where seeing 2-3 patients at the same time was normal practice. I always felt that this is like an injustice to my patients. I felt a strong need to do things the way that is essential for my patients. That is when I started looking into opening my own business and of course building a team of like-minded, skillful professionals. The freedom of being able to construct the treatment plan and being able to be hands-on with every single patient that comes in puts our care at the highest level. period. I am able to create long-lasting bonds with each patient, giving them the treatment and attention they need to recover. Now I am able to sleep easy knowing that my patients are on the road to recovery with our help. In addition to being able to create a place that is known to have a direct effect on anyone’s life that enters the clinic, I am also able to create a legacy by being the face of my very own operation.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a physical therapist who started working in a hospital setting and big organization, I witnessed firsthand some of the issues with the way they operated. The hospitals expected patients to receive similar standardized treatment and didn’t prompt progressive recovery on numerous occasions. . I set out into a clinical setting to pursue one on one treatment. While building my brand, I focused on creating a personal relationship with each of my patients and providing them the best care possible. As my business grew, I invited therapists with different areas of specialty onto my team in order to increase the range of treatment we could provide. Today, with our combined 50 years of experience, we see a wide variety of clients from pediatric, geriatric, vestibular, neurological, athletes, sports injuries, and many more. We are an owner-operated Outpatient Physical Therapy clinic in Richmond, with state of art equipments working with a variety of patients with insurances like Medicare, BCBS, UHC, Friday Health, Community Health Choice and many more. We also assist patients with self-pay and work on packages that suit tier needs.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been good service every single time. My single most important action is a thorough evaluation when the patient comes for the first time and explain in length about the treatment plan and our services. I’ve found that when providing good service, patients will leave good reviews. This allows others looking for good service to easily find us. The majority of my patients come from having looked for physical therapy centers and choosing one with high reviews. Keeping a good reputation helps promote word of mouth, which was one of the best ways for me to grow my business.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I’ve always been into social media, using it to inspire people. I started off as a lifestyle blogger, sharing my life with others and encouraging them to live their life to the fullest. As I slowly switched over to focusing my social media more on my business, a good number of my lifestyle blog followers transitioned to supporting me in my business also. This gave me a really good platform to start with. Some advice I would give to people just starting to build their presence on social media would be, to be honest, and true to yourself. Don’t lie about anything, because what your audience sees is what they expect to get. Also, do not be shy in asking your friends and family to interact with your posts. The more people that like and comment, the more audience you will reach. Another piece of advice would be to try and make video content, as that engages people more, which will garner more interest in your content and organically grow our followers.
