We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Destiny Kallay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Destiny thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.
Over a decade ago it’s was working for a dishonest doctor as a Esthetician. I went in one day and was told to use a broken machine and tell them it was new technology….this was the straw that broke the camels back for me. I walked out scared and jobless with no personal clients and not able to contact anyone due to a non compete. This was a defining moment for me. I took a deep breath and knew the only way I would be able to avoid this happening agian was to take the leap and go out on my own. So I did and built a fully booked clientele in California and then relocated to Texas and did it agian not knowing a soul!

Destiny , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into yoga teaching froma bad car accident as a way to hold myself accountable and get back into the inner healing i needed. From there grew my love of sound healing. I teach a soundbath at Samatone yoga every Friday just for fun. It’s like a vibrational massage for your brain and body. It has personally helped calm my nervous system so much. I want everyone to experience the healing power of sound. We are vibrational beings. Have you ever walked by someone and felt a bad feeling? That’s a vibration. We all let them off unconsciously.
This is my hobby job i really teach yoga and Soundbath for fun and to bring some peace to a chaotic world we live in.
My full time job is as a Esthetician I’m a certified Esthetician laser technician. With multiple certifications. My passion is helping people look and Feel better. I do this through my online community I’ve built on Instagram and through my thriving practice.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In my industry coming from California to Texas, I definitely had to pivot and learn about the area. Learn about people and learn how to market myself all over again. Not the easiest thing, but learning the power of word of mouth all over again was super super helpful to me. As a business owner there is nothing more valuable. Also during COVID, my industry was fully shut down, so learning how to kind of navigate an online presence and how to make money online was a pivotal moment for me too. I immediately instead of feeling sorry for myself said okay, what am I gonna do with this time and I started selling at home facial kits and sending them to people?

Do you think you’d choose a different profession or specialty if you were starting now?
I would a million times over i absolutely love being a Esthetician and yoga instructor helping others feel good physically and mentally
