We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Vlach recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lauren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Going back to the beginning – how did you come up with the idea in the first place?
I’ve always loved sharing my life on social media, curating an aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed, editing photos, and creating TikTok videos. Over time, I grew my personal TikTok account to over 120K followers and had the opportunity to partner with some amazing brands. But despite my growing presence online, I knew I was still searching for something more- something that would combine my passion for creativity with my love for photography and videography.
That “aha” moment came when I stumbled upon a TikTok video from a wedding day content creator. Up until that point, I had no idea that this job even existed. I had graduated with a degree in psychology, but I quickly realized it wasn’t the right fit for me. What I longed for was a career that would allow me to flex my creative muscles, and after seeing that TikTok, I felt like the universe was sending me a sign.
Weddings have always fascinated me. As a kid, I would binge-watch Say Yes to the Dress and spend hours crafting Pinterest boards for my future big day. Now, I had the opportunity to combine my love for social media, photography, videography, and weddings all into one dream job.
For those who aren’t familiar, wedding content creators specialize in capturing behind-the-scenes moments on a couple’s big day, moments that are often missed by traditional photographers and videographers. They use their phones to create Instagram-worthy photos and videos in real-time, providing couples and wedding vendors with a fresh, authentic collection of content. The best part? Unlike professional photographers and videographers who may take weeks to deliver their final galleries, wedding content creators often provide a full set of photos and videos within just 24 hours. It’s a fast-paced, high-energy role that enhances the overall media experience for couples, their guests, and the vendors involved.
After discovering this niche, I was all in. I immediately began researching wedding content creators in Colorado and started reaching out to see if anyone was hiring. I landed a gig as an associate for a local business, but after a few months, it hit me; I didn’t just want to work for someone else. I could do this on my own.
In September 2024, I took the leap and launched my own wedding content creation business. Starting out wasn’t easy. I knew I had the passion and skills, but I needed to build my portfolio and get my name out there. So, I offered my services for free to wedding vendors like planners, photographers, and florists. I actively sought out styled shoots and other opportunities to create content, slowly building a body of work that I could show potential clients.
At the same time, I worked hard to grow my presence on Instagram, connecting with wedding vendors, couples, and other content creators. Slowly but surely, my hard work started to pay off.
By the end of 2024, I had my first full calendar of weddings booked for 2025, and the inquiries haven’t stopped coming in! Now, with around 20 weddings booked for the upcoming year, I’m so excited to see where this journey takes me. I’m grateful for the early struggles, the networking, and the risk I took in building my own business. It hasn’t been an overnight success, but every step has been worth it. I’m so grateful to see that both vendors and couples are recognizing the value in this new, up-and-coming service within the wedding industry, and it’s exciting to be part of such a fresh and innovative space.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a Colorado-based content creator specializing in capturing romantic, timeless, and candid moments. I take pride in showcasing the essence of your wedding day, whatever that may look like for you. Love comes in all forms, and I’m passionate about capturing it in all its vibrant beauty.
What sets me apart from other vendors is my ability to seamlessly combine creativity with genuine connection. I take pride in not just capturing beautiful images and videos, but in creating an atmosphere where couples and vendors feel completely at ease, allowing for authentic moments to unfold. While many vendors focus solely on the technical aspects of their craft, I focus on making people feel comfortable and confident, which helps me capture moments that truly reflect who they are, whether that’s the quiet glance between two lovers or the candid, behind-the-scenes moments at a wedding.
In addition to content creation, I also offer Instagram social media management for wedding professionals. Social media has become an essential marketing tool for vendors and a key resource for couples looking for inspiration and vendors that align with their vision. Instagram, in particular, has become the go-to platform for discovering creative ideas and the professionals who bring them to life.
I help wedding vendors curate a visually cohesive and brand-aligned Instagram feed by carefully selecting photos from their galleries. From there, I manage their posts, ensuring that each one reflects their unique identity and engages their target audience, all while saving them time and effort.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience primarily through the use of reels, as I believe video is the best medium to capture the true essence and emotion of a moment. While photos are beautiful, videos allow people to connect on a deeper level—they can feel the energy, see the movement, and experience the atmosphere in a way that still images can’t fully convey. Today’s audience craves raw, candid, and genuine moments. They want to feel something when they view content, and they want to relate to it. By embracing this approach of relatability, I’ve been able to build an engaged following that resonates with my brand and the authentic stories I share.
My best advice for anyone wanting to build a social media presence is to post consistently and stay true to yourself. Authenticity is key—people are drawn to real, relatable content, so don’t be afraid to show up as your true self. Consistency helps keep you top of mind and builds trust with your audience over time.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I built my reputation by consistently delivering high-quality content and prioritizing clear communication with both couples and vendors. Before working with anyone, I take the time to understand their vision and what they’re looking for. Understanding a client’s needs is always my first priority. While it’s important to bring your own creativity to the table, it’s equally crucial to meet the expectations of your clients and deliver what they want—not just what you think is best.
I always strive to ensure the quality of my content is top-notch, fresh, and innovative. To achieve this, I invest in the latest iPhone and high-quality equipment, along with backup gear, to guarantee everything runs smoothly. Clear, sharp photos and videos are essential—blurry content is never an option.
