We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Susannah Dalton. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Susannah below.
Susannah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
We are currently in postproduction with a project that is very near and dear to me. It’s the pilot episode for a very irreverent sitcom…with puppets. It’s the perfect example of things coming together with the right people at the right time. When you are a working writer/producer the name of the game is to always have many irons in the fire. Sometimes a project will flare up, get funded, sometimes it will fizzle. This pilot is the perfect example of having a project take the back seat for a bit only to have everything fall into place later with the result being that the team is in the perfect place to tackle it now. In this case, we are working with a team of actors, puppeteers, producers, and sound engineers that we hadn’t known when we were first floating the project. This team has made the project stronger than I had ever imagined. If the heart of the project is good it will still be good when the time is right to make it.

Susannah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Born from the collaboration between writer Susannah Dalton and director José Ignacio Vivero, PinProductions is a bilingual production company with over ten years of experience creating award-winning theater and film. PinProductions was founded in 2009 as a creative hub where stories come alive, embracing diversity and innovation every step of the way. We craft artistic and educational experiences for everyone—adults, kids, immigrants, LGBTQ+ communities, and beyond. From theater productions and puppetry to engaging workshops, we pride ourselves on making work that inspires, entertains, and educates in equal measure.
What truly sets us apart is our ability to tell bold, inclusive stories that reflect the richness of the world around us. Whether it’s The Importance of Doing Art—our original play heading Off-Broadway in October 2025—or our edgy adult puppet sitcom debuting this November, we push creative boundaries with every project. Alongside our productions, we offer workshops and educational content, empowering the next generation of storytellers to find their voice and create with confidence.
At PinProductions, we believe in the power of connection—through stories that resonate and experiences that matter. With over 15 years of dedication to our craft, we’re here to bring ideas to life, spark conversations, and make a lasting impact. Whether you’re a fan, collaborator, or future client, we can’t wait to welcome you to our ever-growing creative family.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Don’t try to brand yourself. Let the stories you want to tell and the way you want to tell them be what they are and guess what? That’s your brand. Having a diverse skill set has been a huge asset and I had to tune out a lot of voices that wanted me to focus on just one thing and follow a step-by-step career path. Understanding and having experience in multiple aspects of film and theater production has made me a stronger producer and a better artist.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
In all our work, we strive to bridge cultural and social divides by performing in multiple languages and using humor and creativity to foster understanding and connection. Our mission is to unite people with differing perspectives, reflecting the diverse and complex realities of the world we live in. Additionally, we aim to achieve a syncretism between artistic commitment and commercial success, ensuring that our creative endeavors remain both impactful and sustainable.
