We recently connected with Dawn Gregory and have shared our conversation below.
Dawn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project that I have worked on has been myself. As a young girl I was told the importance of honoring who I am, honoring Mother Earth, honoring your spiritual path, family and human beings.
To be given life and honoring my existence was stressed by my grandmother who saw something within me. She knew that I would understand at a young age the meaning of life as in the life I was given. That was the beginning of the most meaningful project for within my inner being, mind, body, spirit and soul.
My grandmother was a beautiful guide within the physical form now within light guiding me from above.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a beautiful human being filled with life, love and experiences called life. My name is Dawn and I was born in NJ. I have loved being a creative in my early years of life but never knew I would be known as an award-winning author. The first thing that I think about as in what sets me apart is me as in my authenticity and story. It is the steps that I have taken the stories told places I’ve traveled to and every breath that I have taken since I was born. There was a time within life when I experienced a Near Death Experience and that revealed my most inner and higher being. What was shown to me was to make me stronger within my experience as being myself. Knowing that I may not be believed in what I was shown could be out of a movie, but it was and is the truth. So, I had to decide if I had the strength and power to stand tall and tell my story. And because I knew that my story is so unique, so me, so real and so important to others seeing the light to guide them to tell their stories also.
And that is how my Mission Statement was born – I am here to help people speak love and live their truth. And what came to me was Live Life On Purpose On Purpose. To me that was so powerful and so universal for everyone. From that moment I have not looked back books, awards, magazines, podcasts and helping people who come to me for guidance or to ask questions about my experience.
I didn’t realize I was carrying a weight on me by not telling my story. As I began to share the weight lifted and the light of life within me became brighter.
The most amazing part of this is that I have learned so much about me and about compassion, love and the human experience of our lives.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The most important part in supporting artists and creatives is not putting them in boxes. Not ever saying you are trying to be like…. Which I have been told so many times.
The beauty of the artist journey is that you can do it your way. There are so many creatives but to be honest no one is like me. No one has walked in my footsteps or have my voice. The beauty of creatives is that if you allow your story to be you there are going to be different nuances from your story and mine. Always accept them and their work for who they are no matter what age or ethnicity. Art is your voice and within the eco system of creativity art is life. Art is just as relative as life itself. Art is the voice from within. Art is the vision and dreams seen as the essence of you.
Never ever think just because someone may not like or understand your work that you are not speaking your truth. Your truth is your truth. Your art is your art. Art was introduced to me at a very early in life and I remember being told that artist do not make a lot of money so that is really not a career. But I knew that it wasn’t about money it was about the happiness I felt when I created and shared my artistic abilities. Times have changed and art is such a driving force in so many ways. So, I am thankful to see the beauty of art that surrounds us. Honor us as artist to encourage artist to telling your story.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The mission for me is based on a higher power and spirituality that speaks to me and pushes me to telling my story. This may be looked upon as abnormal, but it is the gifts that I have been given upon birth. Each and every moment I knew that I was here to share something but wasn’t sure exactly what. After the NDE things began to unfold to be shown to me and I knew that my journey was forever changed.
My goal is to have an Agent that can represent me within my books of poetry so that it will be known throughout the world. I know the importance of the messages I am given and how it has changed my life and perspective of our human experience.
