We recently connected with Andrea Dekerlegand and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’re complete cheeseballs and so we love asking folks to share the most heartwarming moment from their career – do you have a touching moment you can share with us?
In my early 20’s I began my endeavor with fitness training @ a small, local gym. My heart was all-in, but my lack in self-worth from childhood and destructive relationships made it very difficult to enjoy in the beginning, but despite its uncomfortableness, I continued to press through. As confidence in my abilities began to grow, I began to experiment into my own little niche–that unique creative side, that would forever set me apart. I began designing my very own workouts, exercises, and music that no one in the world had. It was wrapped in heart, passion, uniqueness, and an undeniable impact that loaded up that gym room like no other. Although, the amount of time, energy, and money spent on what I presented far outweighed my salary and my ability to become more widespread was limited. Although, I remained there for several years–settling for less because of my inability to believe I was more. Until, one day, after being so run down, I made the move to begin my own business with fitness training group classes. Living in a very small town, I began with roughly 20 ppl, and each year just continued grow rapidly into a room filled to capacity of 75 ppl at 4 am in the morning. When I introduced my personalized meal plan, guidance, and education into to the mix; it brought results to the next level and increased my clientele to 500+. Due to my genuine care in helping others, quality over quantity focus, keen intuition to each diverse individual, and the usage in my (natural born gift) God bestowed in me…. Has impacted the community beyond measures resulting in life changing stories every single day that will leave a legacy. But what makes this story even more significant is they changed mine so deeply. They have made me this once sheltered, uncertain little girl, to one, strong entrepreneur– that I never knew could ever exist in me. They are the very rock that holds me together. They give life meaning. They made me.

Andrea, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I train such a diverse group of people where it’s able to impact so many. Whether its men, age, disability, etc….
They manage to achieve what most deem impossible. I love breaking the mold. Turning what seems impossible to possible. Giving people hope. And a strong Eagerness in continuing to learn and improve my knowledge and implementation in health and wellness.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
Finding you niche. What makes you different from anyone else. Finding it, experimenting with it, and implementing it with a goal for continuous improvement and impact.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Letting people down is something I cannot do.
Showing up is a must regardless of my reasonings.
I have shown up every single day, despite sickness, loved ones dying, miscarriage, etc.
Standing up in front of so many faces daily as their inspiration, when your internal world is at its lowest, is by far one of the hardest things I have yet to face.
But because of it, it has made me stronger, and consistent in Gods journey he has preplanned for me.
