We were lucky to catch up with Kyng Cylus recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kyng, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
Absolutely, I believe that in any creative field, there’s always a chance of being misunderstood or mischaracterized. For me, it has happened a few times with my artistry and modeling. One particular instance was when I showcased a collection that was deeply personal and inspired by my cultural heritage. Some people didn’t fully grasp the significance and instead labeled it as too unconventional or out of touch with mainstream trends.
This experience taught me the importance of staying true to my vision and not letting external opinions sway my creative direction. It also reinforced the value of clear communication and storytelling in my work. By sharing the story and meaning behind my creations more effectively, I can help others appreciate the depth and intent behind my art.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Sure! For those who may not have read about me before, my name is Kyng Cylus, and I’m a fashion designer and model with a passion for blending fashion and music. I got into this industry through a deep love for creativity and self-expression, and with significant support from my mother, who has always encouraged me to pursue my dreams.
My work involves creating unique fashion designs that are showcased on the runway, often accompanied by a distinctive sound that complements the visual experience. What sets me apart is my ability to merge these two art forms seamlessly, creating an immersive experience that resonates with audiences on multiple levels. I’m most proud of my creative vision and its impact on others, inspiring them to pursue their passions through hard work and resilience.
For potential clients, followers, and fans, I want you to know that my brand is all about staying true to one’s vision and pushing the boundaries of traditional fashion and music. I aim to inspire and empower others through my work, showing that with dedication and authenticity, you can achieve great things.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In my view, society can best support artists and creatives by fostering an environment that values and invests in the arts. This can be achieved through several key actions:
Funding and Grants Providing financial support through grants, scholarships, and funding programs can help artists focus on their craft without the constant burden of financial stress.
Education,Mentorship ,Platforms and Exposure are all key aspects to success.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is definitely the ability to inspire others through my work. Seeing how my fashion designs and unique sound resonate with people, and knowing that I can motivate them to pursue their passions, is just incredible. It’s all about expressing myself and connecting with others on a deeper level. Plus, the joy of creating something new and sharing it with the world is an amazing feeling!
