We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lex Rowe a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lex, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I had always been interested in art as a little girl, I drew women, fashion, florals, etc. When it came time to college my father and I thought something more practical would be in my best interest. I had been going to college studying Respiratory Therapy for some time. It was a huge goal of mine since I was 18 but wasn’t able to complete until I was 24 due to having to take time off due to family hardships. I finally graduated from college and was working on studying for my board exams when I was involved in a major head on car collision on May 4, 2022. I was driving into my part time job at the time around 5am when a driver started driving onto the wrong side of the road into my lane, although I attempted to avoid the driver — we still collided. Upon that accident I broke my first bone ever (in two places) my right foot, sprained my left foot and injured my back (four herniated discs). I was immobile for about three months and in a wheelchair. Having a life altering incident, I thought a lot about my future and goals. I decided I wanted to pursue something I was passionate about but as a career choice. In August of 2022 I purchased my first tattoo machine and started practicing on fake skin, friends, family, etc. When it came time to me going back to work and taking my board exams I decided to take a leap in the tattooing industry. I was scared my father wouldn’t approve and convince me that it wasn’t a stable career. By January 2023, I was guest artist of at shops in LA. By March of 2023 I became a full time resident artist at a shop in Beverly Hills.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
