We recently connected with Danilo Habusmel and have shared our conversation below.
Hi DANILO, thanks for joining us today. What do you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry? Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?
*What does Corporate America get wrong in your industry?*
One of the biggest issues I’ve observed in my industry—especially in the cleaning sector—is the tendency of large corporations to prioritize profit margins over personalized service and employee well-being. Too often, these companies focus on cutting costs, which leads to overworked staff, lower-quality service, and a lack of genuine connection with clients.
For example, when I first arrived in the U.S., I noticed that many large cleaning companies relied heavily on quick, surface-level cleaning to maximize the number of clients served in a day. This approach may boost short-term profits, but it often results in dissatisfied clients and employees who feel undervalued and overworked.
*Any stories or anecdotes that illustrate why this matters?*
Absolutely. When we started Deep Clean Colorado, I remember one of our first clients had previously used a large corporate cleaning service. They shared a story about how the cleaners rushed through the job, missing critical areas and leaving the home still feeling unclean. The client felt like just another number, with their unique needs and concerns ignored.
In contrast, we focus on thorough, personalized cleaning and building strong relationships with our clients. One of our clients, who owns a daycare, told us how our detailed cleaning approach made a noticeable difference not only in cleanliness but also in the health and happiness of the children. Hearing stories like this reinforces why it’s important to prioritize quality and personal connection over just the bottom line.
Corporate America often underestimates the value of human touch and genuine care. By shifting our focus back to these fundamentals, we can create better experiences for both clients and employees.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
*About You & Your Business / Brand*
For those who may not have heard about me before, my name is Danilo Habusmel, and I am the founder of A Mile Up LLC/Deep Clean Colorado Project. My journey into the cleaning industry began more than two years ago when I moved from Chile to the United States. This transition was not only a significant cultural shift but also an opportunity to pursue my passion for creating clean and healthy environments.
*How I Got Into the Industry*
My interest in the cleaning industry stemmed from a desire to offer high-quality, personalized cleaning services that go beyond the surface. Having noticed the difference that a clean space can make in one’s well-being and productivity, I decided to channel this passion into a business. My background in business management and customer service provided a solid foundation for establishing and growing A Mile Up LLC.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
*What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?*
One of the most profound lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that success is solely defined by stability and familiarity. Coming from Chile, where I had established a comfortable life and career, it was daunting to leave everything behind and start anew in a country where I was unknown, and my work had to speak for itself.
*The Backstory*
When I moved to the United States over two years ago, I was faced with the challenge of adapting to a new culture and environment while building my business from scratch. The perception of immigrants in the U.S. often leans towards the negative, which added an extra layer of difficulty. However, I was driven by my love for service and the belief that quality work could change perceptions.
Starting from zero meant that I had to prove myself through my dedication and the excellence of my work. This experience taught me to let go of the notion that success is tied to one place or one set of circumstances. Instead, I learned that success is about resilience, adaptability, and the ability to make a positive impact no matter where you are.
*Changing Perceptions Through Quality Work*
In the cleaning industry, where large corporations often overlook the importance of personalized service, we made it our mission to stand out through our commitment to quality. An example of this is the case of some veteran clients who suffered from respiratory problems and lived with three dogs that shed a lot. At Deep Clean Colorado, we committed to helping them by performing a weekly cleaning, removing all the hair, dust, and disinfecting surfaces. The doctors are surprised by their health improvement, and they express their immense gratitude and respect for our cleaning work. Such feedback reinforces the value of our work and helps change negative perceptions.
*Conclusion*
Unlearning the need for stability and familiarity allowed me to embrace the opportunities and challenges that come with starting fresh in a new country. It’s a lesson that continues to shape my approach to both life and business, highlighting the importance of quality, resilience, and a genuine passion for service.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
*What has been the best source of new clients for you?*
The best source of new clients for us has undoubtedly been referrals from our existing clients. Our commitment to providing high-quality, personalized cleaning services has created a strong word-of-mouth network. Clients who are satisfied with our work often recommend us to their friends, family, and colleagues, which has been instrumental in expanding our client base.
In addition to referrals, we’ve also gained new clients through contracts with companies that have experienced our services in one way or another. Initially, we did a lot of subcontracting work to understand the market and conduct market research. This strategy helped us build connections and establish a reputation in the industry.
However, our primary source of new clients remains our existing clients. Their positive feedback and recommendations have been invaluable in helping us grow and reach new customers. We believe that a satisfied client is our best ambassador, and we strive to maintain the high standards that earned their trust in the first place.
