Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Barbara Gerhaeuser. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Barbara, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a moment in your career that meaningfully altered your trajectory? If so, we’d love to hear the backstory.

I was born into quite a wealthy family where everything revolved about the corporate world and making money. During a serious accident in my childhood, I lost all my memory from birth up till age 10. Subconsciously I decided to step into the footsteps of my mother and make a business career in the corporate world. Apart from that, my mother brought me horseback riding because she thought it would be good exercise. However, this was the start of a lifelong heartfelt passion for me. Even though I started my business career very early, horses were always by my side. As you can certainly imagine both cost me a lot of effort. Looking back, I have to say without horses I wouldn’t have made it. At the age of 30, after my marriage, I stopped working in the corporate world and we moved to another city.
My first defining moment happened when I met my dear friend from the United States. To me, she is the most incredible rider as well as extremely gifted in horsemanship. I learned so much from her and I decided to change my profession to the equestrian industry. It worked out very well both ways as I started competing in big horse shows as well as my career as a riding coach.
The second defining moment was the moment I met my homeopathic doctor. I met her after I gave birth to my first child. At that time, I was still completely caught up in the material world. I have to say, my homeopathic doctor is a living earth angel, and her soul is pure mother love. She introduced me to the spiritual world and showed me how the energetic realm works in our favor. She brought me to my amazing teacher and mentor, a Shaman who teaches the essence of shamanism and so much more… and an absolutely amazing spiritual coach from Slovenia.
Through a lot of initiations, I learned how to build a bridge between the seen and the unseen world and how to receive and transmit healing energies. So, I became a healer and a spiritual coach. After all my life experiences in the corporate world as well as in the equestrian industry and most importantly in spirituality I figured out that the key for everything in life is bringing both worlds (the seen and the unseen) together as a perfect match. My mission is to bring as many people as possible to their soul (true essence) to live their best life with excitement and prosperity. When those people love horses as I do, they have a big advantage because horses can support them in a unique way. Horses are here on earth to heal humanity.

I could share endless stories about this topic but in essence it’s all about expanding our consciousness in order to create more freedom, ease, peace and excitement about life. We have to learn that living on earth is precious amidst all the polarity.

Barbara, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My soul purpose is to help people to expand their consciousness about life on Earth. Therefore, it’s necessary to accept the fact that we are souls living in a human body and not the other way around. We all have an energetic field around us that enables us to communicate with the realm of the spirit and with animals and all living beings. The soul connects us to the source we originate from and where we return to. As soon as we have explored our souls in order to get to know our true essence, we are able to shine our light to create a much more balanced, harmonious and joyful life. This is the reason why I created “Shining Souls”.
My offerings for clients are 1:1 Healing Sessions (e.g. Healing, Channeling and Coaching), Zoom Workshops on various topics (e.g. The 5 Elements, Balance-Alignment-Flexiblilty, Manifestation), Monthly Meditations (e.g. Dolphin Healing), Gathering Groups, Retreats, Horse and Riding Coaching.
I mainly work with people who are in any way connected to horses. When you consider that horses are here on earth to heal like dolphins are the healers of the waters it’s no coincidence that I have had so many incarnations with horses and why I am so passionate about it. It’s a fact that horses mirror us in certain ways. There is always a reason why they cross our path, and they can teach us to find ourselves.
Through my intensive work with the essence of Shamanism I am able to translate the circle of life (the 5 elements) into practical steps into our day-to-day life. By understanding this we can create a much more meaningful life in abundance and gratitude.
In a world where everything is about success and business and we have to act faster, higher, wider and more successfully to find appreciation and acceptance, it’s very hard to listen to our own inner voice – to our heart. If we don’t take time to get in touch with ourselves, it’s quite likely that we will become overwhelmed and overworked which often leads to burning out. In other words, we are disconnected from our true essence.

I am a “Spiritual Horse Coach” and will help people to explore their souls and bring them in touch with the souls of their horses. The horses are the best supporters on our journey to our hearts. We should always bear in mind that the only way of getting in touch with our souls is by opening our hearts. Who could help us better than horses? Nobody, because the horses heart field is 15 times bigger than ours and they can sense our energetic field from 2-meters away.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?

Working with the horses, grooming, walking and riding gives us a great opportunity to learn so much about ourselves. Where do we get stuck? What blocks us? How to practice having mind, body and spirit in perfect harmony?

In my understanding spirituality is important for all people who are searching or being curious about how energy works. They must be willing to expand their consciousness and allow themselves to see things from a different perspective. In other words, we have to figure out “Who am I in my true essence?” Here we have to reflect on how we act in our everyday lives. Do we make choices out of our hearts or minds? Where do we act purely? Where do we act out our identity? In order to survive we take on an identity from early childhood. This identity is the result of our education and expectations from our family and later from society. It’s also important to know where we can fully be ourselves and when this identity takes over. What can we do to keep our energy field clear and fluent? How can we get excited about life?

The main message behind all of this is that in a world full of negativity, polarization and anxiety it’s even more important to realize that our souls are pure and always lead us through different experiences. To really find our alignment we have to figure out how to bring mind, body and spirit into perfect equilibrium.

To put it differently the world is out of balance when we see it from the triangle of feminine, masculine and inner child. The corporate world is all about masculine energy that needs to be balanced out with feminine power and child energy.
For me the best way to do so is to translate the essence of shamanism into the modern world and get to know the laws of the seen and unseen world in order to be a part of the circle of all life.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

I would say it’s not only one story from my journey because resilience is in fact one of my powers. So, I chose this one:

To be honest I wasn’t talented at all at horseback riding. In the past we had very strict riding teachers and we had to obey. My special bond with the horses kept me going. I practiced a lot and took a lot of time to connect with them. Through my unbelievable resilience and not giving up and practicing on all levels I became a very balanced, aligned and flexible rider with a great connection to all my horses. This took me all the way up to Grand Prix level in dressage. Looking back, I have to say that all the horses who crossed my path were unique.

When I was at the top of my riding career my wonderful horse died literally over night without any predictable reason. I was completely heart broken and I wanted to escape from everything. It was as if one part of me died with him. This happened at the start of my spiritual journey. I got the message from him that he opened my way to a complete new soul aligned path. This path would always be in connection with horses but without the element of competition. I couldn’t imagine such a path for myself. After a period of grieving my special horse, my beautiful mare came into my life. She is the most beautiful horse I have ever seen and has an amazing pedigree. Even though she is capable of competing in horse shows she refused to do so. As a result, I have figured out that as soon as I am with her my spiritual channel is wide open. She creates a bridge for me to connect to the spirit world.

I strongly believe that we are always guided and comforted by our spirits, but we have to take responsibility for our own life. We always have free will but have to make sure that this free will is not ego-based rather than that it’s used in the highest good for all.
