We were lucky to catch up with Nesha J recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Nesha, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Honestly, my whole life I have taken risks. I was definitely the dare “angel.” My whole motto was “You will never know the outcome of something if you’re not willing to take the risk.” Taking “risks” is a form of you showing up for yourself fearless and courages. Besides, the outcome can either be “good” or “better”, never bad. Even if it isn’t the results you’d wish you had gotten, you still got an answer that you wouldn’t have got if you hadn’t took that risk. As far as my business(es), each and every one of them was taking a risk. I betted on myself and completely gave up 9-5 jobs. There were days where I wanted to give up, but I didn’t! Even when there were others doubting and painting pictures of me. I made sure to keep believing in myself and God, the Most High. It will always work out for me because I’m willing to risk it all and lean on faith.
My advice to others: “Don’t keep questioning yourself just because it’ll make yourself or others uncomfortable, take that leap of faith & risk.. you will not fail!”
Nesha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello everyone, my name is Vonnesha Kennedy but most people know me by Nesha J. I am a multifaceted entrepreneur; an event coordinator, self-love/spiritual life coach, journal/planner instructor, and I also have my own wine business. My first business venture was “Skai’s Shade Boutique.” When I first established SSB, I was only selling sun shades. Shortly after I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, I branched off to selling women clothing. While SSB was growing, I then decided I wanted to start coordinating/hosting events for other entrepreneurs. I am now on my 15th event, helping others grow and connect with each other.
Shortly after my life coaching journey followed. “Sacred Women of Light” As a life coach, my goal is to reach women who’s seeking the inner wisdom, light, purpose, and power. There are journals I’ve constructed available for my clients and others, as well.
The wine company, “Sacred Couer” that I officially have will be available to purchase AUG 2022.
I am proud of every single business, even when time were/are slow I appreciate the process for teaching me patience, perseverance, gratitude, and discipline. Fore, there is no failing, only lessons.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I would say the #1 thing that helped me build my reputation as an event coordinator was consistency and commitment. I constantly advertise for the events, making sure I hit every deadline and/or that I create.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In my journey as a business woman and mother, there were many many many things that were thrown my way. Things that were sent to destroy me getting to my destination. However, when you are a child of God and a force to be reckoned with, there’s NOTHING that can stop you, nothing. So, even with all the ups and downs, mental abuse, and disturbance.. I made sure to tell myself “you got this” every single day. This is a journey, not a race and I will treat it as such.
